What do these abbreviations mean?

Post by Dee-n-Josh »

I have a ABC x XYZ x LMNOP... :P

I'm new here. I'm still learning a lot about "dog world." So please humor me with some explanations...

What do all these breed abbreviations mean?
JRT... Jack Russel Terrier. (I figured that one out on my own)
What is GSP? I can't remember some of the others I've seen.

If someone would give me a quick primer, I'd appreciate it.

Man, I really feel silly for asking.
Tiger: 4 year old Basenji x something
Solo: 5 month old GSD x Rottie
Both were found at www.petfinder.com

Don't feel silly - I often have to run through a list of breeds before I get the one that fits the abbreviations! :D

Peeps, it would be nice if, the first time, you told us the dog's breeding in full :P In different countries, different breeds are more popular, and there are often breeds in one that you don't see at all in another.

The other ones that I have worked out:

GSD - German shepherd dog
BC - border collie
AB - american bulldog
SBT - Staffordshire bull terrier
EBT - English bull terrier

Maybe we could use this as a list of abbreviations, everybody add the ones they know?
