Sadly we had to let Rupert Bear go this evening. He was diagnosed with kidney failure on the 23rd, spent most of that day and Christmas Eve at the vets on a drip and bounced back. Unfortunately he started to go downhill in the early hours of this morning, we went back to the vets with him, they gave him painkillers and some meds and told us to wait a few hours and see whether they helped. They didn't and by this afternoon he couldn't stand or walk unaided. The vet feels there was something other than his kidneys going on but given how terrified and panic stricken he was about not being able to get up or change position and how hard he was trying not to let Calvin pick him up despite barely being able to move we felt it kinder to let him go than to cause him more distress.
My heart is breaking. This all happened so suddenly and unexpectedly.
Run free my Loopy Rupey, no more fears. I hope there are many sheep, rabbits and squirrels for you to chase at the Rainbow Bridge. And of course many toys to destuff.

You did so much for him - I doubt there are many people in this world who would have given him such a wonderful life as he had with you. Deepest sympathies for you now. )))))hugs(((((

Oh you poor dear girl )))))))))))))))HUG(((((((((((((((((
Nobody could have done more for a dog, and letting him go was the greatest gift of all. His gifts to you were all he has taught you. Nobody can take away the good times, and all those successes you had with him.
When the time comes, and only when you are ready, he will send you another gift The greatest compliment we can ever give a dog is to have another in due course, but not until you are ready.
We understand. We really do.
