Any ideas for dog walker gifts?

Post by ladybug1802 »

I want to get my dog walker friend a nice, but not too expensive, xmas pressie.....but cant think of what to get! I did find some thermos flasks or water bottles with "World's Best Dog Walker" on them but they are fairly expensive for what they are!

Any other ideas??

Well! As a winter walker you could get her some practical things - like fancy warm gloves / thick socks / etc. Or maybe a good treat bag or hands free lead gear would be useful.

Or (and I would say this) if she has her own pets, and you have any photos of them, or access to any photos of them (like if she has a flickr or facebook account with them on) you could think about getting a pet portrait done :D I'm busy putting up posters about this at my local stables, etc, so I'm busy hoping that people want them! :)

Having been half pickled on my walk this morning with Ted I would say warm gear has got to be the way to go  Thermals, gloves, socks, or what about those little heat bag things that have a coin in that you snap and they release heat and then you charge them again in boiling water (like this http://www.proline-sports.co.uk/acatalo ... ort_uk.htm, first one that came up on google but you get the gist).

Minkee, do you advertise on here, or is it not allowed, I would have thought one or two of us would be interested in getting something done :D Hope I"m not out of line suggesting it :D

Ooh I do like the idea of a photo! I do pet photography a lot anyway so could get a nice shot of them together maybe! Although she does have one elderly GSD, a bouncy Ridgeback and a slightly less bouncy, but bouncy nonetheless lurcher! Have just texted herhubby to see if I can go over when Claire isnt there and try and get a photo of the dogs togther...but he works nights so sleeps during the day!

I do also have some treat bags that i sell so actually yes, one of them would be handy for her I think! Good idea!

Oh and good idea Clare.

Minkee do you do pet photgraphy too??

I do illustration, ladybug, so I do pet portraits FROM photographs. Like these: http://minkee.co.uk/portfolio/143/ This is as close as I've come to advertising it Clare - I'm not sure it's really in the spirit of the forum to try and flog stuff! But it also seems okay to mention what I've been up to when it's relevant :)

I'm also a pretty keen amateur photographer, but only tend to take pics of mine and the family's pets. I saw your pic of Dylan that won the comp and it was brilliant! I'd love to do more of this, but I don't know if I'm good enough to do it 'pro' :)

That's an 'It depends!' :D Shoot me an email [email protected] or PM me and I'll work it out with you :)

And the photos are GORGEOUS. The flower canvas is lovely too, but Dylan's the real star of the show :)

ps. If you want any help setting up an online shop, I've looked into a bunch of stuff about it and may be able to help :)

Oh Dylan is gorgeous isn't it, really gorgeous and he looks so happy in those photos :D

Minkee, I'll be messaging you too, my bf keeps asking what I want for Christmas and the art he has bought dominates our flat, time to redress the balance I think :D

Looks like you'll be busy minkee!

I have a gorgeous photo of Ben that I had blown up and messed with to look like an oil painting which I love. But your style is really cool and fun so I might also want one of those!

I've got my cousin (the one with the two uncontrollable collies) a hoody that says "whos walking who"
And a book of Dog games from the Dogs Trust website - it contains things we suggest here a lot like "find it" games, and using food dispensing toys and such.

It was 14 degrees when we went out this morning, and I'm still trying to thaw out,
so my biggest vote at this moment would be for hand warmers! However, as the
earth does turn and it will be hot again, Dog Walker t-shirts and sweat shirts
are always good and on topic

This will probably be a dissenting view... But should one get a cleaning lady a new mop for Christmas? I would go with a bottle of wine, especially for a male dog walker

Ari has a point.

That doesn't really narrow down the options though.

I knit, so I tend to make a lot of hand made gifts. I have to say though that the picture idea seems like a winner to me.

If her life's passion is cleaning, then maybe...;) Chocolate is a pretty safe choice, if your walker doesn't drink.
