strange neighbors

Post by thepennywhistle »

My neighbor's stepfather was out working on the yard next door today. My dogs
barked at him for a moment, as he is a new person. I asked them to stop instantly,
which they did, and I pulled them back into the house. And as I did so, he yelled
at me. Why? For "harassing those puppies." According to him, dogs are supposed
to bark at neighbors, and he feels I should just leave them alone to do so.

Some days you just can't get it right.

  Oh, bother! Really? This, I think, is the first "neighbor person" I've ever heard of that thinks dogs should just be left to their barking!

You're right, Pennywhistle--- sometimes you just can't win for losing.

I'd rather someone yell at me for "harassing" my own dogs than yell at me to "be the alpha" and that I need to put a choke chain on them or something. ;)

Takes all kinds to make a world I guess PennyWhistle! But this is a first for me - someone who thinks dogs should bark more!

Nope, my boyfriend's parents think that dogs should bark lots. Apparently there's a JRT in the caravan next to theirs when they do on holiday who barks and barks and barks every time there's movement outside, they think this is brilliant

Needless to say they won't be looking after Ted any time soon :D

My mother thinks that dogs should bark lots too, they're a rare breed these bark lovers but they are out there!

I had a neighbor once reach a hand over the fence towards Sirius, who was giving every indication of intent to take his hand off if possible, while commenting about how great it is to have dogs that will behave in this manner.

I asked him to stop and took my dog back inside.
Grammy to Sky and Sirius, who came to live with me, stole my heart, and changed my life forever as I took over their care and learned how to be a dog owner.
