baying

Post by danabanana »

Teagan has started baying!

It's such a strange sound, she has quite a deep loud bark for a small dog normally. I noticed it yesterday when she was playing with a bigger dog in the park - she was chasing the other dog round and round and kind of barking yipping.

I had just thought she was telling him to slow down as she couldn't quite catch up! But she was doing it again in class today when the dogs were let off for a play and the lady who had bassett hounds told me it was her 'giving voice'.

Not a 'slow down I can't catch you' but a 'I've got something!'

It's what hounds do :D I think it sounds wonderful.
Find the cause, find the cure.

A dog is never 'bad' or 'naughty'. It is simply behaving like a dog.

It does, now I can really imagine the noise they make when here are 30 of them drag hunting!

It is THE most wonderful thing to hear, all the voices intermingling in a kaleidescope of changing harmonies.
Find the cause, find the cure.
