Easing Back Into Excercise
Hi again everyone. It's been awhile since my last post, and I'm still relatively new here. My 3yr old pitbull Herman is just coming off his injury related enforced activity restriction. I don't want him reinjured, so I'm unsure about letting him go full speed again right off. Any suggestions? thnx
Re: Easing Back Into Excercise
Just take it easy and keep his exercise time short than build up gradually until Herman is ready to go "full speed"; otherwise, you can reinjure him.

Thanks. Herman's been rearing to go, but sounds like he needs to go easy for awhile.

If you can get him to a lake or pond or even a super nice neighbor's swimming pool, swimming is a wonderful way to recover from an injury.

Herman's afraid of water for some reason. He adopted me 1-1/2 years ago, and is still afraid of sprinklers even.

Re: Easing Back Into Excercise
My two don't like sprinklers either, but a lake or pond is irresistible, lol! I have one who is a very good swimmer, and loves to do water retrieves. The other one doesn't really like to swim, but she will go knee-deep and splash/wade a bit. Funny thing is, they both hate getting bathed. Sometimes you have to experiment with water in different scenarios and situations. Sometimes they will take to one when they avoid all others at all cost.

Makes sense. My lil' guy hates baths too. But there is no shortage of lakes in our general area, we should try that. Thanks.

The best thing to do would to slow him down. And very gradually and slowly build up the speed. Walking is still good. Long as you don't go to fast.
Hope this Helps
