New Crittersnaps! Website

Post by Craig Walsh »

First of all, how exciting to be one of the first people to post on this new forum. It's almost like driving a new car for the first time.

I hope the forum is very successful.

My name is Craig Walsh, and my wife Marjorie and I run a small --- but luxurious --- dog hotel in sunny Worcestershire, England. Our dog resort has 24/7 webcams, and we take lots of photographs of our doggie guests and post them online (at http://www.bark.ch) so the owners can see their furkids when they're away.

To digress a moment, we also have one Guernsey cow --- Carole. She's milked by hand each day, and we have a hard time drinking all of the great Channel Islands milk she produces. Through Carole, I became involved with the English Guernsey Cattle Society. I am, I suppose, their unpaid webmaster: http://www.guernseycattle.com And I have helped them set up a monthly "virtual" show where six cows are judged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.

The "virtual" show is a lot of fun, because it allows cows from all over the world to "compete," in cyberspace, with each other. And allows people from all over the world to judge.

This gave us the idea to combine the "virtual" show with the http://www.hotornot.com concept. The result is http://www.crittersnaps.com --- we went live last week.

At Crittersnaps! animals are not judged against each other, but rated on a fun 1 to 10 scale. It's not necessary to register to vote. Our hope is that folks can drop in every day or two and vote on the new animals that have been posted. It's certainly not necessary to vote on all of the animals that are there.

Visitors can look (and vote) on all animals --- dogs, cats, cows, rabbits, alpacas, horses, etc. Or the serach can be narrowed by type, type and breed, type/breed/gender.

It is necessary to register to upload images, and there's a small charge to upload each image. We wanted to keep the website free of advertisements, hence the charge. But if you register and send me an e-mail message --- to [email protected] or via a PM on this forum --- I will be glad to send you free upload credits.

As the website is new, we're appreciative of any comments, suggestions, etc. that you may have.

Happy voting.....!
