Re: Question?

GSDs are more sensitive to their handlers' emotions. That's why they are alright as guide dogs or physical assistance dogs, but are not often used for psychiatric work. Labs and goldens still pick up on their handler's emotions, but don't break down if their handler has a panic attack (usually). Si...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I hope you're feeling better now, Zara. This is Jasper's saluki look - turning his head away and totally blanking me. It can happen when it's raining but now it's a case of 'No Mum, I don't want to go to the woods again! I'm fed up of the woods, I wanna go to the heath, or the golf course, or the p...

As a kid i used to love love love watching the Iditarod race , huskys and malamutes mainly but also other northern breeds. It was great as a kid and i always w...

Re: Dog eating

I've BEEN in slaughterhouses, and no they don't, not over here. Don't believe all you read in leaflets from animal "rights" groups. The slaughterhouse experience over here - transport, holding areas etc. isn't the best experience animals can have, but it's the best it can be made. ...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Ah, but we're British - the right to complain about the weather being too hot/cold/wet/dry/sunny/cloudy/boring despite having much less extreme extremes than most other places in the world is written into our laws (probably)    , soooooo true, I think it still apply to me as I'...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Rather than our usual hot-weather routine of a 'where you want to go' walk in the morning and in the car to the woods in the afternoon, I took J to the woods for a long walk this morning as I wasn't sure he'd want to go out at all in the afternoon. I met a friend who was walking her neice's Munster...

Re: Dog eating

I particularly agree with your last paragraph, JudyN. I would have to be very hungry to eat a dog, the same way I would have to be very hungry to eat insects (popular and unremarkable in some parts of the world) cats or horses. But in theory I would have no objection to others doing so, as long as ...
