Re: Supermarket Dog Food?

I did get her from a shelter. Formally, it was a owner surrender. She was in the shelter and boarding facility probably 4 months. Her last owner told them she was "hyper." She's only hyper when she's scared. Pacing, barking, whimpering, sudden noise, metal noise, the clicking of my husband...

Re: Supermarket Dog Food?

True. She was a little piggy yesterday, in fact I think we may have fed her too much. She hasn't drank anything today, and other than a couple treats from coming in after going potty, hasn't hate anything.

Is it normal for a dog to not like a certain kind of wet food, but love another kind?

Re: Supermarket Dog Food?

She is my baby and I don't want to over feed her, nor do I want her to starve. Is it normal for a dog to miss a day of eating? She is not very active. I know she's a JRT, and they are normally active but she likes snuggles, long naps and quick walks more than anything. Yes, I've tried taking her on ...

Re: Supermarket Dog Food?

how much should I expect her to eat each day? Is it normal for her to go 2 or 3 days between eating an entire bowl of food?

Re: Calming a scared pooch-am I doing it right?

when she is in the active HOLY CRAP barking and pacing crazy stage, won't come to me, won't take a treat-what's the best thing to do at that moment? Because she seems to jump very quickly from growling, mumbling and pacing to rapidity pacing and barking. I am getting better and reading her signals, ...

Calming a scared pooch-am I doing it right?

So Kiki, my jack Russell, at times seems scared to death of the folks who live behind us. Mainly when their loud truck engine is going or their teen son plays his music really super loud. Enough for us to feel the bass once in a while, but not loud enough to bother us humans. She will pace, growl an...

Re: Supermarket Dog Food?

Yes I did. I poured a little bit of turkey broth over her food leftover from Christmas dinner. Save for 3 or 4 pieces of kibble, she nearly devoured her bowl. First of the month when I do a major grocery shopping trip, I'm gonna pick up a couple things of beef cubes-just add water, have beef or chic...

Supermarket Dog Food?

I live in the US, on the west coast. I'm running low on the dry food the shelter gave me when I got her. She's a fiercely independent Jack Russell. I've only had her with us since Dec. 13. This was the first time in 13 years I've bought dog food (how long it been since my last dog passed) and I want...

Re: Dog food, treats and raw food questions???

What brand of supermarket dog food is the best for my dog? I go to the dog food aisle and I want to cry because there's like 200 million choices.

Dog food, treats and raw food questions???

Okay, I have a 4 year old Jack Russell. Been 3 weeks since I brought her home from the shelter. Now, she will eat treats (popcorn, chicken, dog treats) like we don't feed her at all. I *can* get her to eat dry dog food. By *can* I mean if she thinks it's a treat, she'll gobble it up right out of my ...

Re: Is my dog being stubborn or could something be wrong?

I do catch her sniffing at her bowl and making off with a piece here and there. I had some wet food out earlier for her. I was sitting on the couch and making it for her on the coffee table. She hopped up on the couch, started sniffing the bowl. I sat it down on the sofa for her and she ate a few bi...

Re: Is my dog being stubborn or could something be wrong?

Thanks, keep the suggestions coming. I'll play around with those ideas in the coming days. Reason for the high performance dog food is the PAWS shelter gave me a bag of it and some wet beniful food when I adopted her, and right now that's the best I can do for her until payday. My step brother sugge...

Re: Is my dog being stubborn or could something be wrong?

Wells PRO PAC High Performance Dog Food is the dry I'm feeding her. Wet food has been benfiul (different flavors) and ceaser savory delights, different flavors. Only time she devoured nearly every last morsel of dry food in her bowl was the night after I poured about a 1/4 cup of pot roast juices on...

Re: Is my dog being stubborn or could something be wrong?

right now, at this moment raw feeding is impossible. I won't have the money or means to until the first of the month. Until then, I don't want her to starve. What is getting me is how much to feed her. Everything I have read tells me for a 16 pound dog like her, feed her like a cup and a half of foo...

Re: Is my dog being stubborn or could something be wrong? *pics*

There are no other animals, just her. It's my mom, my husband and me. Could where I'm placing her food dish be the problem? Here's some photos of our kitchen, where we keep her food, and one of our living room. Should I move her food into the living room? Our house is pretty much quite all the time....
