Re: Feeding raw frozen?
When I used to feed her frozen food, she takes a longer time to eat, vaguely remember her stopping when she's full. Thought I might be able to pick the food up without her feeling like she needs to be protective over it. But I'm not sure if that will outweigh the possible health detriments of cold f...

Feeding raw frozen?
I know there are those who feed the dogs their raw meaty bones and raw meat frozen, others who feed them thawed. But is there any real reason not to feed the food frozen? I'm asking because my vet had advised I thaw the meat to at least chilled before feeding. My very Chinese mum says from the TCM p...

Re: Question for breeders
Asia as a sweeping generalisation has a poor reputation for animal care, and with expats again there is a reputation for leaving pets behind when returning to the home country. It's probably a wrong assumption but that is the received wisdom. That's so sad. It's so hard to convince people otherwise...

Re: Bendog
Ben went for a general MOT including bloods last week. He has been a little quieter than usual, hence wanting a check up. ... Vet has told us they can progress with further diagnostics - which would be x rays and more bloods, or since he isn't showing any symptoms of anything I can leave it for now...

What about giant meatballs made of minced with bone and anything else, that way you can sear the outside still! =)

Re: The ladydog and being on heat
Thanks! I have milk thistle and cranberries. I will try hose for a few days and send her back to the vet if they don't help.

Question for breeders
As you may (or may not) know, I'm in Singapore. A friend has been looking for a puppy since the beginning of the year. She was searching and asking around both locally and in other countries but so far, short of marching into a pet shop and getting a puppy or going down to the puppy farm for one, no...

Re: Chihuahua's "always" mean & barky?
I know this isn't a really new thread, but to speak up for the chh's, I hope it's ok! I know of 3 little chh boys and girls among Oreo's agility training group. They are way quieter than the shelties and border collies in the same class and are well mannered, focused and good runners. Better yet, am...

Re: The ladydog and being on heat
UTI really needs ABs. Skin you already know :) and are very good at it. Skin eruptions often indicate trouble inside the dog, so the ABs might well do the lot. Did she have any meds for the sore paw? Was it an infection? Hormones - a homeopathic vet would probably suggest Pulsatilla. But I'm not a ...

Re: The ladydog and being on heat
Argh! You are right! It may well be a UTI, but initial gut feeling (very unscientific. Haha) told me it was estrus. Anyway, she had never been regular. I guess it is no harm to start treating at home as if it's UTI instead of a heat. But what are my homeopathic options and home remedies? Just sent h...

Re: Hot weather - it's just not cricket!
It's hot in Singapore all year round - all time low of 25 deg Celsius in December, usual daily high (even in December) of about 34 deg Celsius every day! And it's humid too! Anyway, how we typically keep cool here for local dogs. Stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, walks after th...

Re: The ladydog and being on heat
Sorry to pull this thread up again after a month (it's such a good thread!) Oreo is partially spayed and since she turned one, she stopped "cycling" in that sense and she didn't have another heat, until she turned 2 on Saturday, when I noticed her vulva swelling and showing all the signs o...

Re: Turkey leg
Since we feed chicken legs, I'll presume most poultry legs are ok (my questionable and possibly false assumption), since birds are supposed to be light-boned (another of my questionable and possibly false assumption), and the main concern about weight-bearing bones will be those of bigger mammals we...

Re: Home remedies
Thanks everyone for the encouraging remarks. Just a quick but probably silly question, it seems to be good now, no more smell, no more licking by the little miss, but it is still hairless. I absolutely understand that hair takes time to grow, but does it mean I can stop the religious bathing a...

Re: Home remedies
So I brought Oreo to her appointment with her vet anyway although she seemed to be healing and vet said it doesn't look as bad as the pictures I'd taken to track the past few days appear. She thought the yucky paw looked bacterial but totally approved of the treatment method taken. I'm treating the ...
