Re: Rehoming is going as bad as possible - help!

Sorry to ask where you are loacated i was actually considering offering him a home if you were in the UK. I agree with Judy it is unrealistic to be successful in training out those behaviours in a short timeframe. My puppy is 2yrs old and training never ends. Its intensive during the first year but ...

Re: Rehoming is going as bad as possible - help!

You need to find someone who has the patience for him, he was clearly stressed moving to a new family but he needed more time. Cats might be too exciting for him (they are for most puppies), he needs a calm home with someone who can spend alot of time with him, exercise him and train him. All puppie...

Re: Vent!

I'm a little riled up today. Talk of CM has set me off on one! I have left my breeders facebook group because of all the talk about dominance, people recommending CM, etc. I made a couple of comments suggesting alternative training methods and felt I was completely ignored, so I left the group. But ...

Re: Vent!

You are right though, I might wish for an easy dog but if I had one I might get bored This reminded me......Someone showed me pictures of their 4month old "Cockerpoo" today, he was a cutie. I asked how the training was going and she said he is "perfect", not chewed anything, is ...

Re: Vent!

I am wondering if the feeling towards "rescues" as you describe gwd is the same in the uk? I live in a bubble so interested to here other peoples thoughts. Personally I actually brag that Pepper is a pedigree lab with good, healthy, working lines and can trace her family back generations. ...

Re: Teenager Blues

We went throught the same thing with Pepper and we still are. Dogs and people have us on high alert and we tend to walk in remote places - which actually suits us fine as we get quite stressed in busy places (you probably picked up on that at Robin Hoods Bay). I do think there is a downside - Pepper...

Re: Vent!

Sandy and I can't thank all of you enough. He is so much happier and responding so much better than the nearly three years he has been with us. (By the way, Sandy thanks you for his getting his yummy chicken treats on walks, too.
That is so lovely :)

Re: Dog started urinating in the house because we left her alone

Ok good, were the tous interactive, for example something she can play with alone to distract her? Thats why i love kings, filled with a tasty treat that they can lick and chew for a good hour. Ok so anxiety of being left alone, its the same advice, start again as if she is a puppy, practise going o...

Re: Dog started urinating in the house because we left her alone

This might be abit obvious but does she know how to let you know she needs to go out? Whenever visiting somewhere new we show dogs straight away where the door to the outside toileting area is, take them out a few times until they grasp the idea. I think the same applies here. The routine has change...

Need to vent.....I'm disappointed and fed up. I seem to be part of a very unique group of people here on this website, with an understanding, eagerness to communicate and respect of our canine family members. Being part of this virtual group has also led me to other like-minded organisations, charit...
