Re: Eating problems?
Hi there - I agree that switching to a higher quality food will help. I had a rescue dog in my home last year who came to me having eaten Purina dog food. He would barely eat. At first I thought it was because he was new and uncertain, but this continued for many weeks. Finally I switched him over t...

Re: Schnauzer having a hard time with crates?
Hi Ollie, As always, Emmabeth is spot on. I just wanted to add some encouragement from someone who was (sort of) where you are now just two weeks ago. We brought home our (then) 7 1/2 week old Corgi and though the breeder said she was crate trained, that wasn't fully the case. Yes, she had been IN a...

Re: English Bulldog Still Peeing
Hi Hampton, you sound like someone who really loves your dog, you just got some bad advice from someone you trusted on how long your dog can/should 'hold' it. Emmabeth has given you sound advice on this and now it seems like you're on the right track as far as giving your dog a break mid-day. :) As ...

Re: Anyone heard from Noobs???
Prayers and good thoughts going out to Noobs. I'm fairly new here, but I have read extensively both before and after joining, so I know of her knowledgable contribution to this forum. I hope her situation resolves quickly and we see her back here soon.

As for horse manure, my pup leaves that alone. No interest whatsoever. For her, it's all about the bunnies wonderful little treats! lol

Re: Rabbit droppings
They are actually a 'good' type of dog food  in that they consist of partly-digested vegetable matter, which is in a state where dogs can access nutrients, which they can't do anything like as easily from undigested vegetation. So while I wouldn't advise them for training treats or as a food i...

Rabbit droppings
Okay, I'm not sure exactly where to put this, but this topic seemed as good as any. :) Aside from the human 'gross' factor, is there any harm in my puppy eating rabbit droppings in my yard? I remember reading once (may have even been on this forum, I simply cannot remember) that although unpleasant ...

Re: Puppies and raw bones
Thanks so much Nettle. I appreciate the information!
For some reason, I didn't think to research the raw diet posts thinking that was mainly about food, not bones. Silly me!

Re: petting a shy dog
Nettle, though I'm not the OP on this thread, your response was an eye-opener for me. My pup is still very young (almost 9 weeks) and my thoughts and actions right now are focused on socializing her. Because this is a consuming goal for me right now, it's been in the back of my mind that I'm doing t...

How Much Protein Should A Puppy Have In Their Food?
I'm in the market for a new dog food for my 8 week old Pembroke Corgi puppy. I've been looking at Taste of the Wild, Innova, Acana, just to name a few. I have found these foods to be of superior quality and nutrionally sound, but the protein level in these brands varies widely. Can someone give me s...

Re: Seeking Unique Dog Chew Options
I wonder... if you could boil or soak an antler in stock and then dry it out in a low oven.... to make it more interesting to a dog?? Good question. I don't have the answer, but while my puppy liked the antler I bought for her, it wasn't a huge hit either. Since I had recently bought a tub of freez...

Re: New Puppy, Crates, Crying & Socializing
I just have a quick question, sorry to ask this in your thread, Suzette. A few pages down in both books and you can see the long-term confinement picture, which includes a doggy toilet in the corner. I have read that paper training isn't recommended since the dog will generalize that it's okay to g...
