Sounds like a tough one, especially without seeing you two together. It sounds like your mutt is very highly driven to hunt and this is going to be impossible to remove. This is fairly normal for dogs eating hair. Have you had a dog scooting about with a poo dangling from a hair yet? I have had to get in there with a stick to help remove more times than I care to remember. Long hair+dogs lol
