It's true that most goldens never meet a person they don't like, but it was quite easy to train mine to stay with me and not run up to everyone for a meet and greet. Every breed needs to learn impulse control and happily, goldens are quick learners.

I will just throw this out there for thought... I believe that some dogs are meant to be "only" dogs. Mine is one of them. Piper loves most other dogs. She gets along very well with them. My daughter's dog Duke is her best doggie friend, they have a blast together. BUT... she is pretty hap...
