Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
It's been a while since I posted! I was about to say "not too much has been happening," except a couple very big things are happening, lol. First: Mistral! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dsk76OkWkAEhhE-.jpg After a long series of events I ended up with this adorable little 10-week-old fluffba...

Hope he's recovering well and has let you access your chocolates! And fingers crossed that this sorts out the issue.

Dad, a couple weeks ago: I'll get my next dog in three years when I retire
Dad, today: Don't tell Mom but what do you think of these breeders?
He's got puppy fever as badly as I do lol
So the hunt begins for a good GSD breeder...wish us luck

I feel he knew she was ill, for sure. He is so sensitive to that and his behavior had changed towards her recently -- smelling breath and rump almost obsessively (one reason I'd been pushing for a vet visit) -- but I don't know if he knows she's gone.

We play a variant of stay we call "find it" -- Delta sits and stays (or stand-stays, or down-stays) and I hide a treat. Easy places at first and then more tricky/further away. He stays until I walk back to him then release and tell him to find it. One hidden treat per stay, so he doesn't l...

We had to say goodbye to Opal on Monday. We drove up to the beach on Saturday, spent time with the family Sunday, and Monday we got up and she was not feeling well. The vet we went to was wonderful, but there wasn't much to be done without putting her through a lot. she had a mass on either her live...

Re: Question?
GSDs are more sensitive to their handlers' emotions. That's why they are alright as guide dogs or physical assistance dogs, but are not often used for psychiatric work. Labs and goldens still pick up on their handler's emotions, but don't break down if their handler has a panic attack (usually). Sin...

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DgysIJgX0AAhekT.jpg Moving stuff in and of course the first things in the apartment were dog stuff ;) Then a bit of food, and a set of chairs and a table that I got for cheap at the thrift store. Since Delta's prone to what my mentor calls transition anxiety (mini-SA tha...

I don't know anyone who doesn't think Alaska is part of America
And yup, there's good and bad everywhere. We can certainly criticize what needs changing -- this forum may not be the place to do it -- but if we don't recognize and acknowledge what's wrong, it will never be changed!

We have a low of 23C and a high of 35C (72F and 95F respectively) recently, plus humidity like walking through a swamp. It's no fun.

Yay for the nice walk MP!
That's what the walk-in closet is for Kidding -- there are two bedrooms and a living room. Living room will be dog stuff + training area + hangout place, bedroom one for sleeping, bedroom two for crafts. ;P

That is hilarious Judy! lol! I was approved for an apartment so Delta and I should be moving out SOON...the sooner the better in my book...just need their "list of things we need" email so I can run that stuff over to them. Then the transplanting should begin! I'll be keeping the fish and ...

Fingers crossed for a helpful visit there! Glad you can get in more quickly. Judy, I feel the same way with the hounds I work with. I adore trying to figure out how to make our goals line up so they'll decide to work with me, but I would not like to live with one, haha. :) That sounds like a fantast...

Agreed! Two weeks for a vaccination? Sure! For a new and odd health concern? It's a bit ridiculous. I hope your boss's vet has openings before then!

Hoping Bax does well. :( Is there a vet facility in your area that has different hours, or any chance of getting him in on a lunch break for a quick exam? I've decided to get into Nosework finally, so I looked to our local good dog sports facility aaand...they're remodeling over the summer. No class...
