Dogs don't do sharing and they don't do fair. They do MINE. So play in a way that does not involve one dog having something the other wants, and separate the dogs or supervise them if they are eating/chewing/playing with toys. If anything is escalating towards confrontation, distract and substitute ...

I think you should take her back. Sure, her issues can be worked through and made easier if not perfect, but it needs to be done in a safe environment. She is not is what SHE perceives as a safe environment, and with 3 children, you don't have time. If you want a family dog, choose one properly bred...

Very good advice. I add - careful with your breeds and genders. ONE terrier in a group at a time because more than one terrier= a scrap. Mix breeds/ages as much as you can. Dogs tend to push it with dogs that are most like them. Exceptions are sighthounds which are generally pretty fond of their own...

:Passes round packet of jammy dodgers and cups of tea: We are all on the same side, but each of us has a different 'side' of the problem. Through my behaviour work, I pick up the pieces from people who have bought a dog on a whim or taken one from rescue on a whim, and then can't/won't cope. Nowaday...

While you are trying different foods, by 'petmince' I meant the blocks of frozen meat you can get in the freezer section of your petfood shop. ATM I'd take him out every couple of hours. Dogs IME aren't smart enough to think about holding on or not. If it's uncomfortable, they 'go'. So do we! Intere...

I don't have a problem with outdoor dogs and yours sounds as if he has a good regime in terms of attention - more, as you say, than many house dogs. Is the 1200 feed his only one? Some dogs are much dirtier than others, some pee and poo in their own quarters because it makes the place smell more lik...

If you walk the dog, the exercise stimulates the bowels and he will be much keener to empty outside. If you are waiting 30 minutes you might as well take him out and walk him for 30 minutes. Don't take him home the minute her performs as he will then hang on as long as possible to get a longer walk....
