Re: What to do with Sasha?
Dog flap is possible in theory but I really don't think she will use it! She hates going outside at the best of times if it is even slightly cold, wet, etc. We often leave patio door open during the day if I'm home but she still won't often go out on her own, you have to take her, and watch her like...

What to do with Sasha?
We have a dilemma over what to do with Sasha, she sometimes sleeps in the kitchen, and sometimes sleeps in a crate in our room. If she sleeps in the kitchen then she often toilets on the floor during the night. We are having new floor fitted this week because the old one stinks and obviously would r...

Re: Training to tolerate manhandling...
i feel I should qualify that "too calm" is in relation to other terriers I meet, a lot of other dog owners would probably still find them WAY too demanding to cope with, and it still requires a heck of a lot of management and effort sometimes to keep things calm!

Re: Training to tolerate manhandling...
Terriers should not be razzed up EVER. How to put this across? Tough one - honestly, people who only train one type of dog are often clueless about what makes up another. Nettle THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this. I sometimes feel like my terriers are too calm, and would like them to run around...

Re: Ahemhemhem.... just call me...
Not sure about Crufts yet, I really want to go on the Saturday, but my OH is getting a bit twitchy about me travelling a long way away 4/5 weeks before baby is due!

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Well I am very glad I was proactive yesterday as there were about 30-40 whooper swans grazing on the field next to the footpath! I had to get 5 dogs on lead as soon as I saw them. Would the dogs have chased? Maybe, maybe not, would the swans have flown away in time? Probably, but they are big and he...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Sometimes it seems all I do is moan about my OH on here but actually, he isn't that bad! He hates being told what to do, so you have to let him think he has figured it out by himself, but a lot of his views about dogs and training are much more in line with my own now  Still some things I d...

Re: Need help!
Charlie learning to ONLY try to get toys etc out of our hands when we tell him "get it" and also getting good at dropping on cue. Didn't want him trying to snatch a blanket or toy out of babies hands, but it's also useful in winter passing other people walking as a few have been carrying g...

Re: Vent!
I read an interesting blog on this very topic last night. Was this blog article about how if you're a young couple who aren't ready for kids who are thinking "oh let's get a dog" you shouldn't do it because when you have kids you will basically ignore the dog completely in favour of the k...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Oh no Della, course was amazing, I was just WAY out of my comfort zone (instructing group classes) and found it really scary and tough!! But learnt a lot and excellent practice for if/when I start dog training classes for real. Finished now, but now got the membership assessment next week to swot up...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
HOWEVER - one of the ladies on the course saw me working with Charlie with a clicker and asked how long I've been training him with it etc and said she would have to get herself one, so he obviously made a good impression (he has been a little gem!) And a message on my business Facebook page asking ...
