Re: Vent!

Master2, you left us hanging here: what did the doctor say about your tummy troubles? Nettle, how are you mending after getting mowed down by that loose dog? Erica, how are you holding up at your house? Well I've got my own pity party going: I've been suffering from an eczema flare for a year, and i...

Well done, MPB! It sounds like you had a positive experience, overall, and made some progress too. :)

Oooh! I laughed at what Erica said, but then thought---"-wait, she would probably throw it out."

Then I read Judy's idea.

Re: Vent!

Did you know gluten intolerance can be detected with a simple blood test? I suggest you ask your doctor to order a blood draw. Incidentally, do you also suffer from a skin disorder? Celiac disease can also present in the skin, and looks a lot like eczema.

Re: Can two females live together?

I have two girls, but one came with issues and does not get along well with other dogs at all. It has taken a lot of work and careful management, a lot of thinking ahead and being very observant to prevent fights. Mostly they get along well, but that's because we've done so much work.

Re: Help! Mystery skin condition, even vet is stumped.

Oh I'm sorry. But as master said, it's good to finally have a diagnosis. The other good news is its not cancer, and it is still possible to have a good quality of life, with good management.

Re: Vent!

It's more likely a gastrointestinal virus. Have a cup of herbal tea. Mint or licorice are both soothing to irritated digestive tracts. I hope you feel better soon. :(

Re: Advice needed- cocker spaniel with child

Everyone has given you good dog advice already. As stated, your sweet dog has been very tolerant, and is now very anxious. Despite your efforts so far, you have not succeeded in protecting her from the child. I agree, that at two years old, he is old enough to receive stronger discipline. So, to ans...

Re: Loose Lead walking

Food rewards are more useful for shy, anxious dogs who would rather stay home and not go on walks, or dogs who are terrified of their own lead, their own shadow, etc. The food is used as a lure to encourage the dog to move forward, one tiny step at a time, while they learn that walks are supposed to...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

Today while I was subbing at the school, someone from housing maintenance came to do some repairs on our outside faucets. When she left, she neglected to close the garden gate behind her. Later, when my son woke up, not knowing the gate was open, he let Annie and Dottie outside. 20 minutes later he ...

I hadn't thought of Ki and the toys like that. I kind of was still thinking the whole "Well he hasn't ripped ki's throat out yet so they must be okay". .[/quote] Just because I don't run you off the road after you cut me off in traffic doesn't mean I'm "okay" with it. So let's do...

Re: Hounds?

One of the trademarks of the hound group is that they "sing" (howl) when they are on a scent. Hunters who use hounds rely on that to locate their dogs and whatever they are hunting. It cannot be trained out of them, any more than the urge to point can be trained out of a gun dog.
