Re: Suprelorin

No idea how much he is eating in weight, he has as much as I can get him to eat, depending on what we have in and what he and I feel like. His poos are generally fine, though he had some explosive messes the other day that I won't go into detail about! I messaged a very nice lady from the US who tol...

Re: Suprelorin

Oh and there was one more thing I meant to mention (sorry for making this so fragmented)

Scout was my first ever dog, and she was neutered at 6 months as per the vets recommendation. So I have never had a boy dog, nor a properly maturing dog before, so it is all new to me.

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2

I haven't updated here in a long time... and I'm still not going to :D I have put a long post in the Health and Exercise forum, re: Breeze and his current status, but I thought I'd just leave this here, because it's pretty sweet! https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/106903...

Re: Suprelorin

Also! While I have your attention ;) this may belong in a separate thread but I can just about tie it in to this, because as far as I know castrated dogs hold more weight. Breeze's weight. I *think* he's alright. He's definitely skinny, and his ribs and bony bum show, and bits of his spine, but his ...

Re: Suprelorin

Oh GREAT thanks you guys :P To answer your questions more fully, lets see, where do I start.... I'll start at the end, which is a 'I definitely won't get it done, yet, if ever' "Ain't broke" - if he was just a bit rowdy or cross or sensitive then I wouldn't be even considering it (nor she ...

Re: Suzanne Clothier UK Seminars

There is a practical part to the 'professionals' weekend, which is not the weekend we're looking at. There is NO practical part to the seminars on the 14th and 15th, and so I will leave Scout at home, because it would be a long old journey for her, for no reward from her PoV. She would happily work ...

Re: Vent!

For Pixie's treats - I was thinking along the same lines as Nettle. If you replace the boxes of 'treats' (dentastixs are disgusting! and absolutely full of salt, I think) with ready made boxes with random amounts of treats in them, then perhaps that would satisfy your mum's treating habit, be fun fo...

Suprelorin

It is time for a Breeze chat again :D He will turn 2 tomorrow. Ibizan Hound, sensitive soul, funny boy, greyer of hairs. I took Breeze to try out some scent work with a dog trainer friend of mine. He did really well! But that's a story for another day. Before we got started we had a walk around her ...

Re: which breeder

So long as her answers satisfy you, and the dogs appeal to you, and you think your lifestyles would work well together... then she sounds great! Everything you could ask for in a breeder. Here's some questions you should ask: What are the bad bits about owning a shepherd? What are the problems and /...

Re: Suzanne Clothier UK Seminars

Another update! If anyone wants to stay there, the seminar is being held at Bridge Inn, where you can also stay with your dogs, if that helps.

Re: Labrador breeders

Get a copy of Shooting Times and look at the gundogs for sale there. Now, some working-bred gundogs are too driven to go to pet homes, but others are just lovely, and as long as you avoid the 'big name' kennels that breed for field trials, you can source some home-raised litters from a favourite ol...

Re: Demoing Positive Training, Baby Spaniel and Frenchie Puppy

Oh, I also gave them that Dogs in Mind book, which covers just about everything really simply and elegantly. I hope they read it - I bookmarked the bit about spay and neuter, and also housetraining, as I think those are the most relevant for them. Hopefully if they read one of those bits they'll get...

Re: Demoing Positive Training, Baby Spaniel and Frenchie Puppy

Well I went round to do this yesterday and I think it went really well. I hope it did anyway! Predictably the spaniel pup was brilliant, we got a great sit, lie down and spin. But what I did do was quit really soon to try and drive home the point that you want to stop the training before THEY get bo...
