Re: Doggy Etiquette: What's your Standard?

It all seems so sensible! If only there were some way we could get 'The Others' to adhere.

Nettle, I'm sure it's detailed somewhere or other on this forum but I've not seen it; what sort of dogs do you have & what sort of work do they do?

Doggy Etiquette: What's your Standard?

Hi guys, I've been reading around here and there's all sorts of interesting information to be found! I think I've had it very lucky with my pup so far - she just about wants to be everyone's friend. But after reading about the problems some people have with their dogs, I wonder if there's more that ...

Re: Teenage Rebellion: Puppy is too smart for me!

I just thought of a couple of other little things too - when she knows I have treats or a toy on me and so on, she tends to follow me around, and sticks close - especially indoors, and also outdoors if she doesn't have a ball to play with. Should I be rewarding her for being nearby even though I did...

Re: Teenage Rebellion: Puppy is too smart for me!

Hello and thanks for all the advice, again! I've been working slowly on this, and wondered if you all had any useful tips or tricks just to make it go more smoothly :) I read your recall thread over in the articles section, and have also mostly been following the strategy laid out in the Dogs Trust ...

Re: Mom of new Puppy in Need of, so much advice Please Help.

Just been reading up all that's going on here - it sounds like your pup is coming along beautifully! How's it working out with your cat now? I have 3 cats, and when we introduced our puppy they mostly all just sat on top of the bookcase and watched her every movement. On the whole they all just stay...

Re: Teenage Rebellion: Puppy is too smart for me!

More good advice, thank you. I hadn't thought of it that way. I will try and find somewhere totally new to go to start the teaching, in that case, and work my way up through the greens we take her to, and eventually the beach. Based on this, do you think it would help to try and make her see the bea...

Re: Teenage Rebellion: Puppy is too smart for me!

Wonderful advice! Thanks so much. It's nice having a plan of action - makes me feel much more confident :) I'm going to have to go right back and read up on recall - she got it so easily when she was a tiny puppy, and wanted nothing more than to be with me anyway. And it just stuck! Until now... Tim...

Teenage Rebellion: Puppy is too smart for me!

I have a 16 month old Patterdale terrier, called Scout. She has been really good up until now, adores training, is very bright and attentive, and loves to play with a ball. This is a long old explanation coming up here, hope you can bear with me! I've searched for similar threads but I'm not finding...
