Re: disgusted!!!

I know this post is old but I have to say no owner, dog trainer, or rescue league wants to put down a physically healthy dog, but when there is any aggression due to bad breeding or lack of socialization sometimes there is no other option. As the owner of a fear aggressive dog who bit my neighbor, i...

Dog digging indoors. Stress?

Hello, My friend and her husband adopted a lab. She is six years old, very sweet. Came from a home where she was left in a crate for long periods of time and when she was out she was very distructive. The woman who had her was nice enough to give her up after six years of this sad life. What is wron...

Re: Puppies on Prozac???

I don't think unless you have had to deal with a dog with the issues that these dogs have, anyone could understand. We as owners want to give our rescue dogs a far better and happier life than they have had. When you get a dog that is so reactive and unpredictable that you are considering puting him...

Re: Puppies on Prozac???

Ladybug1802, I totally agree with you. I never thought I would have to resort to medication just to keep my dog, but with Koa, I had no choice. He is reactive, fear aggressive, and I felt this was my only hope. I thought of having him pts, it was that bad. It's one thing to have to do that when a do...

Re: Chase it toy

Good point, you are correct. Once Koa gets his item, he is all set.

I didn't really think about the breeds.

Re: Chase it toy

Koa has no problem with the Swifter or mop.

I am going to make one and see how it goes. If it is to much, I wil not use it.

Wish me luck.

Chase it toy

Hello all, I have been thinking of getting the "Chase It", as seen on IMOTD, for Koa, but my husband feels like this would be teasing Koa and make his aggression worse. I don't becasue his aggression is fear based, so if anything I think it will keep his mind busy. It looks like a great to...

Re: Friends came to the house last night......

Hi noobs, It's not bad becuase he can't pant, drink water and yes, I can pass small treats though it, but it's slow, so he's not getting it in the quickness I think he needs. I will try it with a girl I walk with who has two dogs. She is willing, but only with the muzzle on. I will work on my acuarc...

Re: Friends came to the house last night......

Hi Noobs, I love this idea, but I am way to worried about Koa biting first asking questions later. I have not tried it yet, but a behaviorist told me I should have a person sitting instead of standing because it makes a HUGE dif. to the dog. I would like to do this with a basket muzzle on him ( he d...

Re: Disappointing!

Hi Laydybug, Your pup sounds EXACTLY like my Koa and this person does not sound like a behaviorist (sp wrong, sorry), she sounds like a trainer WANT to be behaviorists. I feel a behaviorist would want to know why your dog reacts like he does and not give a correction. She would try the slow method a...

Re: Update on Koa

Good Morning, When Koa and I walk and I see a potential problem, I do turn and go the other way, not saying a word. If we see a deccoration that sets him off, I let him go up to it, smell it, and walk away when he's ready. I do use the Easy Harness, and head halter, but some times I am afraid he is ...
