Re: What is it with dogs ....

oh yes, the plight of the starving dog  at human dinner time, gypsy knows she gets the last square of whatever we're having if she just waits politely for it, but she needs to ensure she is close by for intense scrutinising every forkful just to ensure that crucial last bite is not inadvertentl...

Re: Vent!

two setbacks in one last night gypsy has been getting more confident in greeting (little, pre-approved) dogs and has even been coming around to some (polite, pre-approved) children though we still most often give the latter a wide berth (even the polite ones, and she's had some fantastic experiences...

Looks really good. simple, easy to use etc. I detest non intuitive web sites. You did an excellent job making it easy to move around and find things.

Re: my dogs are quiet until we take them out

is it just the pub-dogs they are barking at or are they unhappy with being at the pub in general? are the pub-dogs off leash and yours on leash/expected to stay under the table? pubs are pretty obnoxious, noisy, funny-smellin' places for dogs, they may both be overwhelmed or just uncomfortable. add ...

Re: FOOD AGGRESSIVE 7 YEAR OLD JACK RUSSELL

welcome aboard! i'm certain you'll find the help you need here :) before the trainers get in, could you give a little more information about your jack's daily routine? how often is he fed (once/twice a day? same times or different?), exercise, what training you do with him day to day. has anything h...

Re: Service dog training, what to do about STUPID people?

i know this question is about people behavior more than your dog's behavior, but isn't 3 months old extremely young to be asking such advanced service dog tasks like holding a 'down' under a table, not interacting with anyone, for the entire duration of you eating a sandwich in a busy fast food join...

Re: Kong - how does the dog get the food out?

Perhaps you could get her the supersized one and she could fit her whole head inside instead :D i just had a mental image of gypsy with peanut butter smeared all over her face and around the outside of her ruff, from sticking her whole head inside a peanut butter kong  SHE would love it right ...

Re: Stray dog

my husband thinks i am a massive busybody, but i pick up so many stray dogs it is kind of weird. i just seem to always see them (or maybe just notice them more?) than other people. husband thinks dogs 'walk themselves', i just imagine my little ones lost and alone and always hope someone NEVER assum...

Re: Kong - how does the dog get the food out?

i love this because i had the same confusion with our dog  i *think* for squishy-stuff, the dog is supposed to actually squeeze the kong by chewing on it (and thus, squirting the squishstuff out the ends)? i have a pomeranian and even the puppy size is too tough for her to get her whole mouth a...

Re: nervous dog

just wondering, does he travel in the car to places other than the dog groomers? he may be relucant to get in the car becasue he knows the car most often takes him to the groomers (which he doesn't like). personally i would bomb the dog with treats while running through some really short, repeated i...

Wikipedia - Dog Behavior article project!

Hello all! Hope everyone is well :) I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a little Positively community project, specifically updating the Dog Behavior article on Wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_behavior To waste some time at work today I thought I'd read the wiki page about G...

Re: More puppy advice with my Shepherd

It does, but what if I am not frustrated when I clean it up? I have a 5 year old Chihuahua who has yet to get the concept of potty training. It never really phases me anymore..lol. But I assume the concept is the same, her seeing me clean it up angry, or calm..Calm may give her the idea that it's o...

Re: More puppy advice with my Shepherd

I see a lot of info saying to never let the puppy see you clean up their pee area. But it never says why. Anyone know the answer to that? it goes for all dogs, not just pups - dogs are very good at picking up human body language, and often when people are cleaning up dogs mess they are frustrated/a...
