Re: Raw Food Diet
I've fed Ted (long haired chihuahua) raw since he was less than 1lb (he's now 3.75lb). I too used to hold my breath when he was crunching bones. Now I just marvel at how good he is at it. I would never leave him unsupervised as occasionally he gets something stuck on the roof of his mouth that he ca...

Re: Questions about Storing/Preserving Meat
Make sure you factor in reduced vets bills, dogs fed raw tend to need less medical attention (no need for teeth to be cleaned, better immune systems, etc) which can make all the difference with vets fees these days

Re: Food during the night....
Hi there, What's he fed on? I'm no expert but in my experience the more natural the diet (raw meaty bones for e.g.) the better a dog with allergies/IBS does. I feel your pain, my chi had hypoglycaemia and I had to feed him every 4 hours for a month. I was like a zombie by the time he was old enough ...

Re: RECIPES: For Kongs, Meals, Treats, Snacks, and Food Toppings
Whenever I make these they turn out quite rock solid! Should I dry them for less time do you think, or is that how they're meant to be? Also, I've only used lamb's liver so far, but is pig's liver okay too? I think you can use any liver. And you probably just need to cook them for less time if you ...

Oh I love him to bits and he's a real cutie Suzette, too much so in fact because everyone wants to pick him up. When I say no they look most put out but he's a dog not a doll!

Re: RECIPES: For Kongs, Meals, Treats, Snacks, and Food Toppings
Hi there! I feed dried liver treats to a 3.75lb baby chihuahua (Ted). I tend to cut the liver into 1 cm cubes and then break tiny pieces off as I'm training him so that it lasts longer and he can eat it quickly so I can get more done. I find bigger pieces to break up stay softer and are easier to ke...

Re: RECIPES: For Kongs, Meals, Treats, Snacks, and Food Toppings
Sorry if this is already on here but dried liver treats are super easy to make and have no nasties (very important to me as a Raw Meaty Bones feeder). It seems to work with any liver, I do a big batch and freeze them, putting a few days worth in the fridge at a time to defrost (but then I have a chi...

Re: Out of control dogs that rush my puppy
Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you on how things are going so that you know your advice is appreciated and being put into action. First up I have been practicing stepping in front of Ted and stopping dogs that are jogging towards him (not had any flat out yet thank goodness) with 100% success....

Re: Training severely traumatized/abused rescue dog
I'm disappointed in your responses and I should've looked down through the forums first to see the kind of 'care' you handle your dogs and guests. If I could unregister, I would. But now, I'm going somewhere else for answers - somewhere where people are more grounded in reality. Don't bother respon...

Re: Out of control dogs that rush my puppy
Thanks so much, now I have had time to think about which (which I should have done before but hindsight is a wonderful thing eh!) I think I can start to practice this stuff with dogs that are clearly just in it to play to build my confidence. Such a shame that the dogs are the ones that get the stic...

Re: Out of control dogs that rush my puppy
I especially like the treat bomb idea as if a dog ignores that then I know it's trouble and physical safety can rapidly become my priority. The incident with the staffie had zero impact as he was wagging his tail to meet the next dog we saw, a lab. But today he (understandably) was cowering from eve...

Out of control dogs that rush my puppy
Hi all, This is my first post although I have been reading for a few days now and have already started to see positive changes in my dog from using the methods recommended on here. Before I was using a mixture of things I'd read everywhere and I think the inconsistency wasn't helping. Anyway that's ...
