Re: One day your dog will die

I had that too, and a runny nose  Although it tugs at the heart strings I did think there were some nice messages about how you spend time with your dogs :D it inspired me to play 101 things to do with the random triangular piece of packing cardboard, rather than sit round surfing the internet :D

Re: Vent!

I have noticed that most of the greyhound rescue dogs specifically say NO, on cats....... very few seem to list that cats are 'ok' I think that might be a bit like most of rescues seem to say a huge majority of their dogs must be an only dog. Now we know all dogs don't get along and it takes more d...

Re: Getting my dog to drop the ball when other dogs are present

I think this may all work a better for you if you swap the treats for a second ball :D So he comes back with ball 1 and the second he drops it throw ball 2. Then once he's dropping it on his return you can start making it more difficult for him. Mean time I wouldn't let him play ball games when ther...

Re: Vent!

I'm not sure what the zoi's think the tiny dogs are..............I mean I'm sure they know they're dogs and all but they alert on them with the same ear movement that the use for prey............ maybe it's a combo of fast movement and small size. I find this quite disturbing. Obviously I wouldn't ...

Re: Vent!

I've taken all sorts out, and they all hunt as soon as they hit scent. I have a vision of you out hunting with my chis :D And by that I mean turning up at a shoot with a load of serious gun dog people and then releasing Ted and Ella  Ella did grab hold of a crow by the wing tip the other day,...

Re: "Cat saves boy from dog" video - behaviour analysis

I watched it in slow mo too and am with Swanny. I was going to type out what I thought as I watched it (multiple times) but it's pretty much exactly what Swanny said   I really can't see how a case can be made for not killing the dog, the whole sequence the dog was thinking and controlle...

Re: What do you wish you had known...

That socialisation can just mean being in the presence of something and it being no big deal, it doesn't mean your pup has to meet everyone and everything.

And that people are idiots

Re: Canine Hip Nudge Signals Friendliness

I call this bum pushing, Ella is a committed bum pusher  I find collies seem to lean a lot. But last week I met a sheep dog, as in an actual working sheep dog, and he gave me a full body hug, paws on my chest and whole body pressed against me  What was especially nice was he was filthy :sh...

Re: Vent!

Having probably woken up the whole lane, I shovelled up the poop, carried it down to her house and hurled it against the window. It was quite a sloppy poop. I pretty much alway shout at anyone who doesn't pick up after their dog and I find yelling "Your dog's just had a s**t" most effecti...

Re: Ted

A room is like a stadium with small dogs. The room is actually pretty large anyway (44ft x 22ft) so it looks HUGE with two chis using it as a race track. Of course they love it, I came downstairs the other ay to find my OH and Ted playing chase and Ella dancing around excited but not sure what to d...
