Re: Trust me I'm a vet?
Is this something in the U.K.? I hadn't heard bout it, but this forum is the closest thing to social media that I participate in. So, if it's not discussed here. I don't know about it. I'm sure that like training, everyone has their idea. We don't feed Sandy raw anything. His tummy is so sensitive, ...

Re: Behaviourist degree qualifications - relevance ?
Emmabeth,
You did a great job with the forum site. I like the logo, and the questions to prove I'm not a robot. When asked how many gas stations, it took me a while since my eyes weren't working too well, but I must have passed since I was able to post.
Kudos!

Re: Behaviourist degree qualifications - relevance ?
Emmabeth, Great answer! Problem is that today, people can get degrees in almost anything and call themselves whatever they want. As you so well explained, experience and staying on top of what is going on in the canine world as well as having colleagues with whom you can consult is great. We have ha...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Judy, I love it! "Good boy, Jasper!" 8) Of course he asked nicely for something he knows you would give him. :D But, as you said if it were something he knows you would say "No", then of course, its time to just take! Sandy thinks anything that hits the floor is his. The o...

Re: Obsessed with other animals
Hi Lizalex, We have a 7 yo deer chihuahua who we rescued 6 years ago. He also goes bezerk when any animal gets on the TV: dog, cat, horse, duck... You name it. We have tried treating him, but all he did was find treats in my pocket & have jackpot. Our TV stand is totally scratched. :oops...

Re: How to tell other people?
Janca, Good luck! You received some good advice. But, remember that they may have been taught to do the roll with their dog. When we first got Sandy, we signed up for training with a local pet store. And, Sandy was reacting to the other dogs (since as we learned through this site he has fear reactio...

Re: SURPRISE! counter surfing
Why is it that they prefer food other than their own? Sandy is in one of his moods today. (Well, OH was at the dr. All morning having his bladder immunotherapy. Usually, he sits with Sandy on his lap. Now, OH is in the bedroom, rolling from side to side since the drug has to touch each part of his b...

Thanks Jacksdad, Ari_RR & Nettle for your input. Great learning from all of you. Nettle wrote: So crucial to all this is that the owner is utterly committed to keeping the dog safe - not what the owner thinks is safe, but what the dog does. This is a very important point. As to feeling safe, it ...

Hi Jacksdad, Great review for me! I had forgotten all about it and as you can guess, Sandy still reacts to scary. Our major problems have been: -I tried using clicker and as you mentioned it didn't work  -I couldn't get OH on board. He has PhD in Sociology & MS in psychology so he thinks ...

Ari_RR,
I'm sure Ari doesn't like the cat screaming
or does the cat just carry on when humans get home?
Maybe train Ari to feed the cat

Re: Early feeding time
Hi Shalista, Sandy gets fed once a day, usually between 10:30 and 11:30am. It's his main meal, but we allow for treats later in the day, and for some reason, I think it's the angle of the sun on the room, he seems to know when he gets his special chicken treat. After his last potty, I put him to bed...

Cross your fingers for me -- have submitted application to KPA! I am getting more and more consults to attend to and it is fantastic, as it is directly coinciding with a dropoff in my nannying/tutoring duties. Perfect timing from a kind universe, at least in this aspect! The pay is better and I can...

Fundog, I'm so sorry to read this. You did the best you could under trying circumstances. Know that you gave Annie all the love & care throughout her life. And what a beautiful place for her last resting place. Yes, remember the great memories! And give Dottie a treat from Sandy. (((((((HUGS))))...
