Re: Going on vacation

Just had a conversation with the housesitter, she IS going to stay every night. And the puppy will be taken back and forth between my house and hers so she will only be alone during the day. Thanks everyone !

Re: Going on vacation

Don't know about breeder, got her at a no kill shelter that's too far away to get to before vacation. And I know no one is at that place all night !

Re: Housetraing my puppy

Thanks Sarah83 - albeit it you weren't responding to my posts, your sentiment about how people phrase things hits the nail on the head. I'm 51 yrs old and this is my first dog/puppy; I've always had cats. I've been talking to people, calling relatives, and reading tons online trying to learn about d...

Re: Going on vacation

I'm not at all happy about leaving the puppers here alone; that's why I posted here with the question in the first place. The vacation was planned before we got Jamie (it involves 4 airlines tickets and a property rental) and I can't cancel it. We'd been looking for a puppy and when we saw Jamie we ...

Re: Going on vacation

How was I 'nasty' ? Just said maybe I didn't agree with you; tons of people work all day with their dogs home alone. I didn't say it wasn't good advice either. And I thanked you for your opinion.

Re: Going on vacation

Well, Jamie does go all night (8+ hours) in the mud room without going to the bathroom. Hopefully she will continue to do so. The woman to watch her lives 3 doors down so hopefully between my house and hers (and her family), Jamie will have someone around a good deal of the time. All kinds of people...

Going on vacation

Hi I didn't know where to post this. We have a new puppy; she was born 2/22/11. We've had her just about 5 weeks. House training hasn't been going so well. Anyway, we are leaving Thursday to go on vacation for a week. I do have a woman who is going to come to my house, perhaps stay here a couple of ...

Re: Housetraing my puppy

I keep thinking about your reply, "Only the first 2 say don't, looks like you didn't bother to read it all." How rude ! As a matter of fact I DID read the whole thing, two times. But I didn't feel I knew any more after reading it than I already knew. And also, "she is a pet groomer no...

Re: Housetraing my puppy

I thought the potty training instructions read more like all the 'don't' rather than how to do it. I'm not doing the 'don't' but was looking for more 'do's'.

Re: Housetraing my puppy

Jamie is getting exercise. Her outside leash is long and we have a big yard.j She also likes to run up and down the neighbors fence with their dog on the other side; it's like a game they play. She gets taken for walks. We're doing the best we can. You know, lololol, it seems different people, diffe...

Housetraing my puppy

Hi, new here. We have a 3 month old puppy; we're told a Dachshund/Smooth Fox Terrier mix. I've had her for 1 month and house training isn't going so good. There is me, hub, son 14 yrs, & daughter 12 yrs. She's baby-gated in the mud room all night. She does not toilet in the mud room. Hub lets he...
