A healthy animal should not strave itself just like a human child. Some dogs just require less food especially if they are not active all day. My 3 only eat at night even though I leave a bowl of food down all day. Some breeds will eat until they burst. My posse nibbles a bit during the day, not muc...

At first thought, food means he is going back into a place where he has to spend long hours alone. Try feeding it somewhere else that does not mean being crated. He/she has figured out that if he goes in there, someone is going to shut the door. If nothing else seems amiss with his health, this coul...

You have to look at a puppy like you would a human child. I hate to say this but leaving the puppy for hours at a time even with someone coming to let it out is not a good situation. You might want to look into doggy day care. Yes it's going to cost you. It's going to cry and whine at night, it miss...

My method to give a pill is to have the dog in a sit with it's back to me so they can't back up, gently pull the chin up and put the pill way back and then rub the neck to make them swallow and then follow up with a treat. It takes a little practice but it works for me. My 3 don't get meds often so ...

PS, my daugther had a dog that was so ball driven she bought a tennis ball launcher, used and loaded it up with tennis balls so her arm would not fall off throwing the ball for him, she wore out ball chuckers also. The only down side was that she had to go pick up the 50 + balls to restock the thing.

Some dogs are just ball driven. I see this all the time at the off leash. In the long list of things a dog can be obsessed with, this is not so bad. I see many dogs at the off leash that will focus on a ball rather than play with other dogs. Is the issue more that you think your dog should play with...

When you take her out do you clean up right after she goes? I would leave at least one "event" in place. I have one place in my yard where they go. Take her to the same place each time. It could be that when you leave the room she does this to get attention. I saw once that Victoria had this gal set...

The older dog will teach the younger one boundries. So long as the bigger one is not grabbing you pup by the neck and shaking it. I always added a pup with an older dog, for a couple reasons, the older trained dog was a teacher by example, Like going outside to potty or sitting for a treat. Clipping...

When you have more than one dog in the house there is going to be one that is more dominate. Unless they are ripping each other apart, let it be what it will be. Humping is normal, sometimes my three will get playing and one of them will get "the humpies" the humpee gets a bit wicked and puts the hu...

And then you have the person who had a dog for a month once when he was a kid and thinks he knows everything. He even went through obedience class with Maia and still thinks he knows everthing. It looks to me like this person likes the idea of a dog but not willing to do the work it takes. Hmm is th...

Most puppies I have had have gone through what I call "the skinny stage" they are growing so fast that they can't keep fat on them. If your feeding him enough, he's active and alert this just might be the case. And not all labs are stocky, some are very slender. If he's healthy, eating well and acti...

Since she is feeling better she may be more willing to come to you. Take it slow, she needs to be able to trust. If it were me I would go with her into the yard. She is going to be fearful and if she can see you as a place of comfort she might come around. do you try to feed her from your hand? I wo...
