You will get there! As Emmabeth's advice, leaving the door open won't help, you need to be there with her, give loads of praise for going outside Took us 10 days with our beagle pup doing it this way (unfortunately set back a bit by my mum in law who insisted it was fine for her to wee inside, but t...

Thanks for the advice Maggie, we definately won't try to make her do anything she doesn't enjoy. Going to look at ringcraft classes see how she takes those, and maybe visit a couple of shows before we enter her (if we do!). We know someone who runs agility and flyball classes so going to give them a...

Yes a harness is a must, a lot of damage can be done to a dog's neck by an ordinary collar, especially if you do managed to pull on the lead when you are turning quickly. You can get harnesses from any pet shops and I prefer a 6ft lead for this but you also need a shorter lead for walking on roads....

This might sound harsh, but how can you expect to have a family-oiented dog when she lives outside? There is no way that she will learn to get along with children unless she is inside and gets LOTS of postive time spent with the child. We are not talking about 10 minutes a day, here. She needs repe...

do I *need* a harness to do this? Teagan will be out soon and the first thing I want her to learn is how on walk on a lead - she is fast outgrowing her puppy collar so I need to get her a new collar and lead anyway - will it not work as well in just collar and lead? Where's the best place to get a h...

hmmm. Writing that out and reading it back to myself - I can't stop her jumping on the sofas from the next room even though I can see her doing it! Will keep her closer to me the next few days and see how that goes, also will be training and playing games on the floor - not tuggy though while she's ...

I can see what you're saying Emmabeth but we have a living room then a kind of open kitchen-diner. The one door between them stays open, we can see her at all times downstairs wherever she is and wherever we are. Hall and upstairs are behind a closed door to her. She is crated when completely unsupe...

Thanks guys - haha can't wait til OH gets home and I tell him to tuck his trousers into his socks! I guess it's just watching her - we know from watching her when she needs the loo, so we get her outside - same principle right? As for the sofas I'm sure we will get there but I don't think the attrac...

when ignoring doesn't work...
Ok been here asking a few questions already but here's another (sorry)! Clicker training going well, toilet training fine now, raw diet going well too so far. But. She's going through a bitey stage - well I hope it's a stage anyway. She'll bite hands, even when madly waving around her favourite toy ...

Decided to try her with a chicken wing first, seems like a fair few people on here feed these before going on to anything too rich etc. Well just tried her with a raw chicken wing. Being on dry up to now I fully expected her to wolf it down and choke. Which was pretty accurate! none of this *what th...

just given her a chunk of carrot which she seems to have taken as treat/toy/chew all in one - think I've sold the idea to my other half by insisting it should give her plenty of energy but not so much she is hyperactive (she is pretty hyper at the minute, and it's not helping that she can't go out f...

And how does it work with treats? She's obviously very young so is getting quite a lot of treats at the moment with all the training, weeing outside etc etc. Currently am feeding a bit less than the recommended amount of dry food in grams to balance this. But what treats can raw feeders have? It doe...

I *think* I want to feed raw?
I'm just worried I will get it wrong! My 9 week old beagle is still on the pedigree puppy dry stuff that the breeder had her on from weaning, I wanted to let her settle in before changing food but she has done now. I'm looking at getting Billinghurst's BARF diet book but have to admit am nervous abo...
