Re: Dog aggression towards older female
Hi Sammie Jo , The general advice is to introduce dogs away from their homes on neutral territory. It might be that he was ok with your neighbour's dog because he knew him and Abbey is a stranger to him . maybe his behaviour is changing becuase he is a little older now and maturing . I would try mee...

Re: 3 year old shih tzu biting
When a dog moves into a new home , he has to learn a new set of rules and it's all very strange and confusing to him and also difficult for him to understand what he is supposed to do and not do especially as he doesnt understand English . By the way , you mentioned that he did "bad" thing...

Itsa great shame that they are showing these old programmes. I assume that Victoria has no control over them. She definitely does not use these methods now. If you go to her main webpage Victoria Stilwell's Positively. Com (click on yellow button at the top of the page ) and then click on the Positi...

Re: Terrier Barks When People Leave the House
Thanks for your comments, it's very much appreciated! I'll definitely work on fitting in longer walks. Just since I've posted, I'm already noticing how quickly he's picking up "quiet." It doesn't keep him from starting to bark but it is helping to cease the barking more quickly. Now that ...

Re: What can I do to help with sudden aggression?
Thats lovely that you have rescued your St Bernard and also foster dogs. Well done for doing this and for doing something to help unwanted pets. However, sorry to say this but having fostered myself , resident dogs and especially recently adopted ones can find it stressful to cope with the pressure ...

Re: Stressed and need advice/tips!
That's a nice long reply with lots of information! Sorry if I have missed this , but does your dog go out for daily walks ? he is GSD cross and GSDs are a working breed of dogs and need exercise. I know you work very long hours and you may not be able to manage it but you could think about having a ...

tttnjfttt, I just wanted to say well done for understanding that your dog is fearful and for handling him so well and not exacerbating her fear. Also , your dog is being good as he warned you that he was fearful and didnt bite you. Lovely reply from Emmabeth, I'm sure the clicker taining will help. ...

If it's any consolation that's perfectly normal puppy behaviour . I've heard of GSds of that age draw blood  Puppy teeth are very sharp! I ETA I've just seen your other thread and you have had lots of good advice including something similar to the above. You have to persist . Puppys do grow u...

Re: questions about training
Hi, Suddenly people are asking me to train their dogs and pay me for it. I feel a little weird about it. I have of course watched It's me or the dog , read Victoria's book and also Patricia McConnel's and Sophia Yin's books. I also worked for a vet who bred bloodhounds and at 8 weeks we would start...

Re: Dog/ferret training.
Glad you're making progress. :) When I introduce dogs to my guinea pigs , I put a harness on and long lead and keep a distance and I click and treat when they look away or if there is a pause in barking. When they are ok with that , I let them get closer. and so on. they do tend to calm done in a fe...

Well done for working so hard with your puppy .
Have you thought of using a head collar or non pull harness? Although it doesn't solve the problem long term, it might be of help when you are walking with your child .
