Once you've had time to reflect I'm sure you'll see this is the best thing for Stan (from what you've said you know this is your heart already) . You sound like a wonderfully warm hearted and kind person..all animals could do with more people like you in the world. Big hugs!

Re: Repetitive eye infections & changing to raw

Hi All, so wanted to share our success...for the second night in a row Hattie has taken a completely raw lamb chop and diligently crunched and chomped her way through it!! For the last week i had taken Clare's advice and been searing it in the pan - literally holding the bone out of the pan and seal...

Re: Repetitive eye infections & changing to raw

Clare - thanks for the detailed response - Hattie is nearly 9 months now, and get fed twice a day. I had switched to lilys kitchen wet because she stopped eating her kibble and about a week ago started mixing this with barf and tuna /and or a bit of grated cheese..but she manages to pick out what sh...

Repetitive eye infections & changing to raw

HI Everyone, Over the probably a couple of months now my pup has had recurring eye infections, in one eye and then both. Each time she has been to the vet and she has been on a course of steroid eye drops twice a day (the second lot for several weeks). The vet suggested that the root cause may be al...

Re: how often should i bath my dog?

thanks guys I don't think bathing more would prevent scabies anyway i'm presuming OH has picked this up from our dog rolling in something - so not sure how to prevent this happening again? (she zooms around so much it would be easier said than done) couldnt face another major disinfect of everything...

how often should i bath my dog?

Hi there, I've always been keen on not over washing my 8month old pup as dont want to dry out her skin- particularly as she is a wire haired breed, whom I've read can be prone to skin problems. However every weekend when we take her further afield for her walks she has a right old time of it -runnin...

Re: Lakelands

HI Bendog I also had a go at hand stripping Hattie my fox terrier pup the other day - and like poppy she didnt seem to mind at all, in fact the hair came out really easily. There's a set of really useful PDFs of the Wire Fox terrier Association website. Obviously they are talking about wires not lak...

when can we start increasing exercise??

Hi All, so our fox terrier is 7 months now..she goes out for about 45mins twice a day - which during the week is on /off lead and some outside training mixed together . When my OH is off we'll take a short drive out into more rural areas and particularly if there's no one around I just let her do he...

hi bendog, i just wanted to say that i totally understand where you're coming from in terms of worrying about your dogs being left (even tho they seem fine?), so will be interested to read peoples comments. I've been lucky enough to have a break from work since last Nov (when we got Hattie our littl...

Re: When can we start socializing Sam?

when we got our puppy Hattie at 9 weeks i used to take her out for short trips carrying her down the high street. She was really scared at first and would bury her head in my coat - but after a few days she started to gain more confidence and look around - so by the time she was fully vac'ed and we ...
