Meaning, are you doing this for personal knowledge, or because your interested becoming a trainer for hire? If...

How often is he having seizures? Not certain whether they affect dogs the same way but I suffer with epilepsy and I'm clingy and insecure after one. And yeah, different meds can really change behaviour. I got really aggressive on one type but am fine on another. He had 2 24hours apart thanksgiving ...

Thank you both for the advice. Horace's Mum. I am keeping touch with the vet on his meds. the vet did warn he might be a different dog, but from what your saying we unfortunately haven't had him long enough to really know his relaxed personality. The good news is the vet does not like phenobarb for ...

I think I need some advice.

Jack is an almost 3 year old Jack Russell / Chiwawa mix. We have only had him about 2 months and he is our first dog. As I posted in my other thread, we suspect Jack of the beginnings of separation anxiety. In a nutshell, he whines, wimpers, howls, paces when we leave. When we come home, the welcome...

To solve it, might take a while but the key is like you said to not be mean. You don't need to be mean, yell at him etc. Just ignor him when his requests for attention are rude or out of line. And if need be, get up and walk away. My little guy is an attention hound. He would rather snuggle, be pett...

You've done research on the rest of the boards before you came here and asked your questions, and you've already taken advice from other posts with solutions for people who have the same issues as you're having. I COULD KISS YOU. :D Best of luck. In training your dog AND your son. LOL, my wi...

Thank you for the quick response. One more question if I may. I have a weeks vacation time coming up. Any tips/suggestions/ideas for making the most of this time to work with Jack on his anxiety before it gets even more pronounced. I want to be sure that my time around doesn't make the problem worse...

A Separation Anxiety Question

Have a couple separation anxiety questions. I am using the search and am finding good tips, and suggestions so thanks to those who have gone before and the advice given already. First the background. My wife and I recently got our first dog. Jack, an almost 3 year old Chiwawa / Jack Russell mix. His...
