Re: Thundershirt problems???

Wicket- He had some serious crate issues when I got him. I do spend alot of time when I am home working on that with him. Getting him to go in it on his own, feeding treats in there, closing the door for a second, working our way up to longer and so on. He has made leaps and bounds of progress there...

Re: Zippy has collaping trachea..

Its a new vet. Does any of this sound like it could be heartworm to you guys? The lady who comes in to help with training the Puppies for Parole dogs told me it sounded like heartworm. I don't know if he was ever checked for this.

Re: Thundershirt problems???

Its not really seperation anxiety so much. He just hates being confined to a room or cage period. He will jump the gate to leave the room I am in as well. I can be in the kitchen making dinner and he will jump the gate to leave the kitchen to go run around the house. I have not ignored the advice. I...

Re: Thundershirt problems???

ok, so turns out while I could see a difference, as in he relaxed immediately, when he is not stressed out, turns out it doesn't work worth a hoot when he is. He still freaks out when I leave him in a room with the door shut. In fact, this little 6 pound dog managed to pull the baby gate out of the ...

Re: Zippy has collaping trachea..

When I called the vet she wanted to wait a few more days for this 2nd antibiotic to have time to work before doing xrays. She said she wanted to elimate some possiblities before doing xrays so we would not get things confused I guess. She did say since his gums weren't turning blue there is a possib...

Re: canine pacemakers

I think I'm with Mattie on this. I had a long ordeal with one of my dogs and did what I thought was best at the time. I think as pet owners we sometimes give human feelings to our dogs. We think of them as a member of our families and want to do whats best for them. But sometimes extending their liv...

Re: bortadella?

Mine never get it. My vet says since they are very rarely around strange dogs that they don't really need it. Like you I can't afford those extras because lately vet care has been expensive enough for other things. I think my dogs probably got it as puppies, but not since then. I never have them boa...

Re: Zippy has collaping trachea..

I am going to call in the morning and see if he can get in then. It scared me but then I saw he was still pink... I def don't like the fact that he is coughing to the point where that happens.

Re: Zippy has collaping trachea..

Just an update on Zippy. He is still coughing quite a bit. He has had 5 days of Delta Abaplex (sp) and is on day 3 of Doxycycline. Still has 7 days left of that. He seems to do better for a couple of days and then worse again. Maybe he has sesonal allergies like me, who knows. He had a pretty bad fi...

Re: Some Zippy success!!! (sort of)

He is a climber so it would have to have a sturdy top, that he couldn't rip or pull off. He is in a xl cage now, one of the ones big enough for a full grown lab to fit in. I don't think his problem is the cage specifically or if its just that he does not like being contained period! Even when he has...

Some Zippy success!!! (sort of)

I finally got around to getting a memory card big enough that I could record for a couple of hours solid. So the other day I decided to set it up in the room with Zippy's cage when I left for work to see how he does during the day. So I am watching it when I get home expecting to see quite a bit of ...

Re: USA vs. UK laws

But sometimes the violence would make ME feel better  Just kidding, sort of.. Im a pretty easy going person, hard to get riled up, hard to offend and so on. But when it comes to things that can't defend themselves, animals and children, my other side comes out.

Re: Thundershirt problems???

I have looked at the way it fits and it seems ok. I think maybe it just feels weird to him and he doesn't stretch out to make the jump like he normally would maybe. I don't know but it sort of works. I put it on him and can immediately tell a difference.
