Re: I need some advice
As soon as you see him tense move him away as fast as you can, you will find that the distance he tenses up will get smaller and smaller as long as he doesn't get the chance to do anything else. The thing that scared me one day Mattie, was I went into our local pet store. You're allowed to take you...

Re: I need some advice
You didn't think of it because he is your dog and you are too close, it is much easier to see solutions when you are at a distance. That is true. Usually when you allow yourself to take a step back and allow yourself to look at the big picture, your perspective will change. You will always get idio...

Re: I need some advice
@Mattie - Oh thank you for all the wonderful advice! :) Funny that you asked that about the dog park and him playing with other dogs. Usually he does not. He might play chase with a few. Almost always goes and greets new dogs, but does not really partake in wrestling around or anything. It's usually...

Re: I need some advice
@ Jacksdad - Thank you for your advice :) I figured introducing another new dog would be a bad idea, even doing so on walks. But what about a dog he already knows? (which leads me to the dog my friend might let me take from her).. He already knows her, which could be a plus. And also, his issue isn'...

Re: Should I change foods?
I know with my dog, when I had him on Blue Buffalo, he'd pick at it and would not eat the life source bits. I now have him on Taste of the Wild and he scarfs it down like it's the best thing on the planet. No runny poops, no dry skin or allergies. However, there is only 4 flavors I think and two of ...

Re: I need some advice
Jakesmom - No I have not tried that! That is a good idea, unfortunately the dog owners in this apartment complex are not the friendliest and are rather uptight so I am really unsure of how me asking them that would work out. :? Now one question I had, was would it be bad of me to bring another dog i...

I need some advice
I posted on here a while ago about my dog being dog reactive while on walks, but fine at the dog park. Well, he still does ok at the dog park (or so I think, because he spends most of his time playing ball than playing dog), but none the less no aggression or fighting. Now, on the lead however we st...

Re: I'm confused and need some advice..
@jacksdad- I completely agree with you. I do not understand the mentality of this reasoning myself. Hatchet's previous owner had the same mentality and everytime Hatchet did anything wrong he got punched or hit. My boyfriend wouldn't punch, but when he said I should have hit him to get him to knock ...

Re: I'm confused and need some advice..
Oh my thank you for the advice... :) Yes, I do enjoy seeing him play with other dogs VS playing with the ball all the time lol But I do suppose that it's ok he doesn't too. Other dogs might not be his thing, even though he's friendly and such, you're right. My boyfriend is respectful of me, and resp...

Re: I'm confused and need some advice..
Ok, so I told my boyfriend about what happened last night.. (he's in another state right now, so he's not around.. long distance thing).. Anyway, he hasn't been around since I got Hatchet. After I told him what happened last night with the dog and Hatchet lunging, he told me he would have hit him to...

Re: I'm confused and need some advice..
Emmabeth- Thank you so much for the advice. Anytime that we come across a dog it's never straight on, it's usually in passing, but like you said that doesn't matter. It's at a distance and I can tell there might be a problem with how attentive he is on the other dog. Tonight he could have felt corne...

I'm confused and need some advice..
I posted on here a while ago about my dog possibly having some dog aggression.. At that point it was to only one dog, but since then it's been to any dog that we pass unless it's a puppy or a small breed dog. It's been happening to any dog we come across that is his size or bigger, and either at day...

Re: Cesar Millan
I have got to say this is one of CMs more nicer moments with dogs. He doesn't even lay a hand on the dog, at least in the clip we see. Normally he's alpha rolling dogs or jabbing or using his foot. I am not one for being on CMs side, but I am glad I didn't see him using his typical methods for "...

Re: Poop in the house
I think I came up with a solution. There is a puppy playhouse down the road a bit from my house that I am thinking of taking him to twice to three times per week for a half day. That way the hours he is home will be very small, and he will be sleeping and tired most of the time :) I would do a full ...

Re: Poop in the house
Mattie- He's normally left alone for at the most 6 hours. He usually is able to hold it, but you're right. Maybe that extra hour was just too much for him. I feel bad but there are times when I might have to leave... :( Jakesmom- You have a good point. :) I guess I shouldn't worry until this becomes...
