Re: Out of character humping
I would think Mr Labrador has got some sort of infection - blocked anal glands, prostate issues.... something like that going on.... those do produce Interesting Pongs for other dogs.

Re: Puppy panics for a while after we leave the house
I now (somehow by complete accident) specialise in Separation Anxiety, it is pretty much all I do now.. It is normal for a puppy to experience severe anxiety on being left by the primary care giver (you!). That is normal up to about 9 months of age, so I wouldn't recommend a program of Desensitizati...

Re: Dog behaviour courses
The course is pretty good but this IS a distance learning course as far as I know and there will be no sitting in a classroom learning, it will all be 'self directed' and via webinars and written assignments. Do be sure that you can handle that as these courses tend to have a short time frame and no...

Re: Greyhound \ lurcher owners needed?
Theoretically, particularly if you had a pair of greyhounds AND they had a dog flap to go out and pee, that could work... However.. Greyhounds may well tolerate something they do not like, in silence, because they have long ago learned that making a racket about it does not achieve anything and beca...

My dogs couldn't give a wossname when Arthur next door is singing to be let in or howling because he's been left home alone, or barking at them when they do return..
They go off their heads though when he says the postman is out there!

Re: Lying close to me
I think what you are doing is fine.. i suspect he wouldn't sleep somewhere else, and you are right, sprawling in front of you means you can't move without him knowing. That probably then means he feels able to TOTALLy relax and sleep, knowing no ones going to sneak off, sneak out, sneak in, etc!

Re: 7 month old puppy biting
Echo the others - back to the vets for a specific check for anything that could be causing aggression - pain is a big factor, and a standard check over may well NOT reveal a source of pain, or something that is making your dog feel poorly, perhaps anxious, dizzy, confused... It IS very scary when a ...

Re: Bird mites please help!!!!!!
The chances of you getting bird mites without handling birds or routinely going to confined spaces where birds live (for example, roof spaces filled with pigeons) are basically..... nil. Go and see a Dr please, this forum is not the appropriate place to ask for advice like this and we'd be negligent...

Re: Ear drops
We do the same with Womble and now I realise I have not taught him ear drops - I have taught him 'have your eyes peered into with someones face close to yours, same with ears, paws, bumhole and wearing a muzzle. We are working on nail clipping and we have a rock solid chin rest to hand for examining...

Re: Puppy wont walk
Your english is fine (but generally, we refer to a dog by gender, he or she, rather than 'it' as that feels a bit impersonal and like the dog has no personality of their own) You are doing fine, listening to your dog - you are correct, you go out for his needs, rather than yours so if he is telling ...
