Re: Should I change to harness?
Having a dog who will walk lovely for the most part, but will then bolt off in a random direction after a butterfly / cat / bird / bit of paper I personally prefer harnesses. He's still walked on a collar heading out, however, as he hates harnesses and will sulk if I put one on before he gets to the...

Re: Large Munsterlander?
I've met a small one briefly, and I mistook it for a springer x collie.
Have you looked at the Sabyhoun? Those I've never met but I read a great deal about them as I was considering them. Sound like lovely dogs.

Re: Let's talk sighthounds
It all depends on which of the brains remains. A really trainable quick dog with energy for days but calmness when called for is right up my alley! Of course they are xbreeds so you never really know what you're going to get. Met some absolutely lovely collie x lurchers in my time though.

Re: Let's talk sighthounds
I love me some sighthound, but I am very partial to Lurchers of the heavy collie variety. Bonkers and quick, and sometimes really trainable too!

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Probably just someone calling about PPI or something stupid. I keep getting phone calls about my car accident... Which never actually happened. I wouldn't worry. It is really easy to get someones name and address, but really hard to do anything with it.

Re: Hounds?
Given she wants an active houndy looking dog that is easy going and friendly, I would say Labrador. There is a reason they are really popular! Lurchers can be good 'take anywhere' dogs too, though since they are basically x breeds you never really know what you'll get. Get a Collie x Whippet and you...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Fibro is such a horrible thing to have. My dad has CFS which is similar but leans towards the exhaustion side rather than the pain. Wish they would hurry up and figure out a) the exact cause and b) a cure! I agree with Jasper, that is the best way to deal with this horrible heat. Wish it would go aw...

Re: Hounds?
It depends on how much exercise she can realistically give a dog, and where she is able to walk one. I quite like Harriers myself, but they need lots of exercise and stimulation! I find Beagles lovely dogs, but completley and utterly obsessed with food to a point where it would drive me nuts.

Re: Hounds?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the point of scent hounds is to track and make noise, so the hunters could follow the hounds. So I would think pretty much all of them are noisy, even Dachsunds like to bark. Most common one I've met is a beagle, and they have a set of lungs on them. It isn't a bark or a ...
