Re: My Ultimatum (running away dogs)
I thought so too but they are also uninterested and atleast one of them is all for the "quick fix" invisible fence... They are both, to be brutally honest, very lazy and won't even get up to exercise themselves even thought they need to as well. The whole family seems to think of the dogs ...

Re: My Ultimatum (running away dogs)
I agree that both of the dogs are not in a good situation and that my parents should NOT have dogs. I firmly believe that anyone unwilling to sacrifice money/time/effort should not get a dog in the first place. However, I am not in a situation that I can take them yet and I also have pretty much no ...

Re: My Ultimatum (running away dogs)
Unfortunately, I agree with you. I told them straight out that they are lazy dog owners and if they aren't going to put the love and effort into them that they need then the dogs need a new home. They do not want to rehome the dogs and I have two younger sisters who also don't want to rehome the dog...

My Ultimatum (running away dogs)
Rehoming the dogs is NOT an option Hello! Let me first start by saying this is not my ultimatum for my dogs, it's my ultimatum given to me by my mother. I am going to be a Junior in college and don't have the time to go home too often as it's over an hour drive away to my parents' house. I apologiz...

Re: Help with reactive dog?
They told me (I have not witnessed it myself) that other dogs will grab at her legs and belly and jump over her. They said where they got her from had her in a kennel with several other dogs who could get pretty rough when playing with her while she was on her back and would even sometimes growl and...

Re: Help with reactive dog?
Thank you both for your insight! I told the owner to make sure that Bella was far enough away from the other dog so that she feels comfortable before having her sit and treat but I will let them know about sitting her. :) And come to think of it, both of my dogs are male so maybe that does have some...

Re: Help with reactive dog?
Hmm this is why I'm a little stumped. When I had Bella with my dogs, as soon as she got comfortable with them, she would play bow and try to initiate play. She would still try to run after my dog when he ran by. I had several people here so all dogs were on lead to be safe so I am not sure if she wo...

Re: Help with reactive dog?
Okay, I will mention that. :) However, I am curious, do you think it is fear based? She has shown signs of fear around dogs on walks before and when Colby approaches she gives a sideway glance like she is uncomfortable. I assumed that her biting at Colby's neck when running was her telling Colby tha...

Re: Bella and Friends!
Thank you! Poms are very fun! They're all very sweet. Rusty is an absolute sweetheart, he's pretty old (about 9 years) but he's a cuddler and super smart! Baron is a ball of energy and he LOVES his toys. He likes to do hotlaps around the house. Bella loves people and is very attentive.

Help with reactive dog?
Hello, my name is Johnnalyn and I am an aspiring dog trainer. I believe whole heartedly in positive reinforcement and have done a lot of research concerning it. I have helped and gave advice to several people having trouble with their dogs as well as helped my own dogs with their problems. Anyways, ...
