Re: Where has everyone gone?

Well, you give awesome advice Judy and you have been so helpful to so many here. It's good to see you still here sharing and helping. :D You too Ari__RR! Plus I know a few other regulars pop in from time to time and it's always good to hear what they have to say and share. And Shalista, you also hav...

Where has everyone gone?

Where have all the regulars gone? For instance, I haven't seen a post from Nettle and/or Emmabeth in ages. Judy, it looks like you are pretty much holding down the fort single handedly these days. I hope everyone is okay.

Re: Almost 7 month old Pup

I am far and away not the expert here, but I think you might have a middle ground option with your dog. Instead of all or nothing when it comes to on leash greetings, take a middle ground stance. When you come upon a dog that would be appropriate for him to meet and greet, no matter how well it is g...

Re: Blind dog now also deaf...please help

My heart goes out to you and your sweet pup! Quality of life can be difficult to gauge in another being. First, let me say this, if you Google Halo for Dogs you will find a product that helps blind dogs navigate safely and securely. This might be of great help to her. But to address quality of life....

Re: Just a little rant about being 'over protective'

I find some of the same in my family too. All are dog lovers and care very well for them, but even they think training positively is just me "pampering" my dog. And it's been over six years now... <sigh>

Re: vomiting

How many times a day to you feed him? You don't have to add more food, just break up what you give him into smaller, more frequent meals. (Assuming the vomiting is from hunger/empty stomach.)

Re: To veg or not to veg

My dog never really liked eating veggies. I offered them, but she didn't usually eat them. Now I grind her raw food instead of giving her whole meaty bones and I put steamed veggies into the mix. She devours it! I like that she gets veggies in her meals. It simply cannot hurt. The key is to steam or...

Re: Two female pits - good idea?

Thanks for your answer Emmabeth! I thought her female was younger than this, but she just told me that she is 7 years old. She is apparently very sweet and nurturing to other dogs she meets. This family really knows pitties, how to raise them and how to keep them properly exercised and trained. I'm ...

Two female pits - good idea?

I have a 16 week old rescue pit bull that I am fostering. She is now ready for her new home. A very nice lady wants her who has raised and understands pit bulls. BUT... she already has one aged male and a young (but adult) female. While I personally have never had an issue having two females in the ...

Re: Trust me I'm a vet?

My experience with vets is that in many cases even the best of them wrinkle their noses at raw feeding. My dog has been raw fed since she was 4 months old (now going in six years old), and the proof is in her health and hardiness. That is what has won over my vet (not that I needed to win anyone ove...

Re: Shar pei?

My sisters neighbor from several years ago had shar pei and they were very loyal to their family to the point of being very wary of anyone else. They were super protective of their family and territorial in their yard. One of theirs was kind of sweet and friendly to strangers, but their other three ...

Re: New Puppy

I basically followed Ian Dunbar's Before and After You Get Your Puppy, but I agree with you Judy it was a bit too rigid for me exactly as written. So I simply "toned it down" to make it a reasonable fit for us. It really is a great resource when you temper it with a bit more of a re...

Re: Silly little tip

I did the same thing for Piper's very long leash that I used when we lived at the beach. The knots also gave me more "grip" when the lead got wet (her beach leash was made of braided nylon, so it could get slick when wet). I loved it!
