Camping With Eevee! (Pics)

Well, I waited for this trip for months, and this weekend we finally got to go! Eevee and I joined my mom and step-dad on a camping trip to Indian Peaks, CO. I forgot my own camera, but managed to get a few shots of Eevee with my mom's crappy little camera and wanted to share. http://img.photobucket...

Made Another Collar (Pics)

I just wanted to show off the collar I made for my best friend's Mini Dachshund, Roxy. It came out soooo cute!

The park is actually mostly grassy, except for the one area where the dogs have trampled during games of fetch, so it's not too bad after the rain.

Shippo is what is known as a "Fluffy" corgi. It's a genetic coat mutation. More info here:

Thanks everyone!

Wow... toward the end of that video. *pop....pop....pop...pop...* Eight times in a row. That's a lot of repetitive leash popping to get the desired results.

Shippo is chipped, no problems here. I'll most likely be chipping Eevee during her next dental cleaning. I think there are a lot greater risks for our pets right now than microchips.

Clicker-trained dogs are conditioned from the beginning to know that the click from the clicker is a positive thing and means that what they are doing at the time of the click is the desired behavior and they are about to be rewarded for it. Click = reward is coming. When a clicker is used properly...

Shiloh's owners have told me that she is a hybrid (not sure how true it is). She seems to be very laid back and submissive, trotting up to complete strangers and rolling herself onto her back for belly rubs. I also saw her last time I visited this park. Stunning dog. Or wolfdog. Or whatever she is l...

A squeeky toy is acceptable as a distraction - is this because it was not designed as a distractor although the pitch is probably more damaging to the dogs hearing Most dogs are ATTRACTED to the squeaky noise. While it may interrupt them, it won't do it by SCARING them... unless of course a dog hap...

Dog Park Fun! (Image heavy!)

Well, I found a really awesome dog park about 30 minutes away from me, and took both my guys yesterday. What's great about this place is it's out of the way and not so easy to find, so the only people that go are the ones who are truely into their dogs. We had a blast and I thought I'd share some pi...

You may also want to consider not trusting your dog with that particular vet tech. That's a REALLY good point! I used to work as a tech assistant at a vet place, and I brought Shippo in and had blood drawn. Well, he struggled and yelped (they tensed up while holding him and scared him really bad) a...

Koehler... you mean the guy that advises people to half-drown their dog in the hole the dog dug in the yard?!

Um... not a fan.

Well I checked out the website and it sounds like a very confusing tool for the dog... I use a clicker here during training, and something like that sounds like it would make my dogs terrified of the clicker!
