Re: Feeling Crummy... Really, Really Crummy...

The life expectancy the doctor gave her dad was inaccurate. Lisa's dad died Tuesday; about 3 weeks after his diagnosis. My previous plans were to give a gift particularly for the father and the mother, but now my focus will now be for Lisa and her mother. Geez, just yesterday I made JV in volleyball...

Re: Escape!... Into the House?

I reckon I would give him that bath - take out hot water and mix it with cold to take the edge off it, do it FAST and then take him for a RUN once you have towelled him off hard (on the leash, if you let him off he will roll about and get filthy!!!). He wont take long to dry, especially if you give...

Re: Escape!... Into the House?

Last night after I was in bed Buddy got up on the window and I heard it and then my mom going out to put him in his crate so I got up. She said I kept on babying him everytime he got on the window and she said everytime he gets up on the window I go out and cuddle him so now he's starting to do it t...

Re: My Dog Just Barks

It sounds like Beau is insecure possibly. My cousin has a dog that barks all the time like the way you describe your dog and she's insecure. Try looking around this site for folks who had similar or same problems like constant barking and see how they solved them. Sorry I don't have any examples on ...

Re: double trouble

It sounds to me like either seperation anxiety or reactivity to the passing noise that sets them off, and then they're both so excited they just feed off of each other and go nuts. Perhaps try looking around this site for cases involving reactivity to passing things, excitement, and seperation anxie...

Re: Dog is scared of husband

We had a dog Lucy who was from a shelter, and she was terrified of my dad. I don't remember ever seeing her react to him as I was only four at the time we got her, but my mom does. I can't remember everything that she's told me about how they solved the problem, but whatever they did they eventually...

Re: Help for a friend...

Then, well, see what you can achieve really. I wouldnt use food rewards too obviously to actually get him beside you, as that will likely prompt the 'oh well hes only doing it for food he wont do it without' response, and you want to set this up so there can be nothing to pick at, no arguments, ie,...

Help for a friend...

My friend who lives down the road has a 6-ish month old mastifxGerman shepard named Bear. Everytime I pass the dad taking the dog for a walk they are in a constant state of tug-o-war; either Bear is pulling him to get somewhere or the dad is pulling him to come along. Every time I ride by on my bike...

Re: Please Help

My dog also highly dislikes getting into the back of my mom's car, and he's a hundred pounds (about 45 kg) so I can relate. Could you perhaps try a ramp such as these? http://www.petclassics.com/Outdoor-Dog-Ramps/ I've never tried one with Buddy my dog, but if your dog doesn't want to jump in he cou...

Re: Loose Lead walking

I've been working with Buddy on the loose leash method described here: http://clickersolutions.com/articles/2002c/llw.htm I think I might be doing it slightly incorrectly, though, or not getting something quite across. We are up to the point where we walk with the leash in the least distracting envi...

Re: Feeling Crummy... Really, Really Crummy...

I have another spin off idea of emmabeth's. A dove sitting on a tree branch and deer next to the tree sniffing noses with the dove, it's neck extended as it reaches out to sniff it.

Re: Feeling Crummy... Really, Really Crummy...

I found out what type of cancer he has. He has extensive-stage small cell carcinoma of the lungs. I Googled it and two-year treatment prognoses is a 4.6% survival rate; needless to say that's why they decided not to pursue treatment.

Re: Feeling Crummy... Really, Really Crummy...

Oooh ooh.. (I actually bounced in my chair then and said that outloud! I feel about five years old!) Stag on a hill, a three quarters view from the back if that makes sense, and hes looking out over....... doves in the air, other stuff? Something along these lines? Maybe with the stag more central?...

Re: Feeling Crummy... Really, Really Crummy...

I like your idea about "subtle", emmabeth. That gets me thinking more. Hmm... I drew some quick sketches of what the ideas more or less look like to me. Idea 1: the doves are closer so the focus is on them and the other elements are in the background, below them. Idea 2: Well, the only thi...
