Re: Dog eating
Well it is illegal to go out and hunt for your own food here in that way, and I don't agree with hunting in general (especially when its done for fun). But I don't have a moral issue with someone who killed a stray dog humanely to consume it, like someone who shoots a rabbit for dinner. It's weird a...

Re: Dog eating
Some animals cope better at being farmed than others. Dogs aren't herd animals, they naturally want to travel for long distances, and they have dynamics in the 'pack' that are counter intuitive to large scale farming. They're not grazers, they are predatory scavangers and hunters. Grazers, biologica...

I think its more the case I have no option but to try and be strong. I'll worry about letting myself get upset once I'm financially secure.

Paying the mortgage each month is cheaper than renting, especially with a dog in tow. It is also more secure. I can't afford it as of right now since I still don't have an income, but I couldn't afford to rent right now either.

Mortgage, so the buyout would be about £10k.

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Can this humid, horrid weather go away yet? It is getting really difficult to walk Merlin now I don't have access to a car for wood walks. :( Poor thing is swapping between bored out of his mind and too hot to move... Until it goes dark of course and I'm out at midnight walking a dog with far too mu...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Exactly, Judy! Sometimes I see Merlin as the scrawny kid behind the tough kid shaking his fists going 'Yeah!'. My old cat (passed over a year ago at 19) would yowl when he was alone. The older he got the more he wanted to be in your company, and the more insistant he got when he wasn't. Maybe Monty ...

Re: Question about Lara?
I don't think you should get so caught up in the health of the breed as a whole. They are animals, and animals, like us, break sometimes. Of course some breeds are prone to more health issues than others, but the health of the line of dogs you are getting a dog from is more important. Remember all t...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Yes I can totally understand why he reacted. Was being followed by a growly dog with a strange face, who then charged him. I was shocked he didn't react more, but steak tends to have that effect on him. I didn't expect the last word though, cheeky monster. He was bouncing around at the end of his le...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Merlin is 16 months old now I think! http://joehertvik.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/zero-days-since-last-accident.jpg Yep. He reacted again. I don't really blame him. Two pugs coming up right behind us, one making these really weird noises. I assumed major breathing issues since it is also increda...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Me and my dog haven't done much today, or much for the last few days, or weeks. I've suddenly realised that Merlin might have... Dare I say it... Grown up! He's still Mr Playful and enjoys his long morning walks, but in the house he's now happy to relax and chill when I'm busy writing / job hunting....
