Koa update, more help please. (split from another topic)
I will check out this episode, and yes, we still have trouble. We just work around it. Koa goes to daycare two days a week and loves it, but at home he will lunge at anyone who comes on our propery or near me. Clearly protective and, I think fearful at the same time. It's hard to work on because my ...

Re: Distressed - Stuck between a rock and hard spot
Hi Michelle, Another good book is "The Other End of The Leash" All about body language and how, we as people, can understand how to react the correct way. Also, I know how you feel as far as the husband thing. I had a GSD, Bruin who died of bloat at eleven. Great dog. So what do we do, we ...

Re: German Shepherds!
I think we all have one that we feel particularly close to, but they all bring us joy. I know when my first GSD, Bruin died of bloat at eleven years old in 2007, we were devistated. I was convinced I would wait a year, yeah, one month later I was looking at rescues. My our house was so empty, all I ...

Re: Killed a Cat
Hi Melissa, Sorry to hear that. It is very difficult with a dog with strong prey drive. I have a GSD who is the same. I totally agree with the fence idea, even without the cat chasing problem a fence is a must. Even if it 's only part of the yard, considering how expensive they are. I feel even the ...

Re: what to put in a kong!
Hi, I got some recipes from the Kong website. One that Koa loved was, pumkin filling, fat free vanilla yogurt and oats. I mix it all up and add some cookies in to it, I also use canned dog food somethimes, and top it off with low fat peanut butter. Freeze in for a day or so, and it keeps him busy fo...

Re: My Best Friend was Attacked **** Violence ****
I feel so bad for you. I DO have a dog that would bite out of fear, and knowing that is upsetting. But your dog, being friendly, and having to deal with a guy like that is awful. If your dog wanted to do dammage, he would have done when the guy was freaking out on you. I dont' blame you for worrying...

Yes, we can all learn so much by watching others.
I thought the TTouch was just about calming the dog? Is it, actually, training of some kind?

Re: Loose Lead walking
Hi Mattie,
I saw Victoria using this technique Sat. on her show. I want to know if you learned it from her or if she is seeing the great results you got and using it, becuase I have never seen her do this before.
Thanks
Liz

Re: Princess episode
I do put him behind a gate, but he goes nuts, bark, bark, bark. So I like the idea of puting him in a safe room, then letting him come out to a gated area a little later to see if that works a little better. If I am behind the baby gate with him and cheese he seems a little better, but he is very te...
