Koa

Hi Ckranz, Mattie, and Emmabeth, First I want to thank you all so much for all you input. It is great. Now, to answer your questions: I have people call when they are coming over so I know what time to expect them. A minute or two before they come I put the Gentle Leader on Koa and say "We have...

He is fine with the Gentle Leader when we are walking. It does not seem to bother him, but when he gets mad, it bothers him.

People have started to come over to help me, so that is when I put it on at home. Otherwise he does not have it on.

Oh, and I am using a 6' leash.

Thanks

Hi, Yes, I have the Gentle Leader on him when people come over because he nipped my neighbor and I can't take the chance of it happening again. Granted she bent over him in our front yard, and he did not liked it. I do have a Gentle Walker, but have not used it lately because I want to control his h...

My GSD Lunges at visitors

Hello All, I have a two year old GSD who lunges at visitors when they come and go. The facts are these: History: Koa was at a puppy mill until he was 7 1/2 months old, then saved by Save A Dog, and we adopted him at 8 months old. Needless to say he had some issues. Progress: Considering he could not...

Fear agression

I am interested in the answers you get. I have a GSD with the same problems, but it is much worse when someone comes to my home.

I am going to try the protocol for deference program my vet gave to me. I hope it works.

Hi, I can certainly understand everyone's views, but I have to say I agree with Victoria. There is no doubt that JD loved Galaxy with all his heart, but I could definatly see the little bit of stressfullness in Galaxy, even though she did great. I think the body language was all there. I loved the s...

Let's try this again

Hi Jenni, I just submitted a post and the subject was "chicken", and never mentioned it. I was going to say, I saw IMOTD last week and saw where Victoria used chicken and a whistle to get a dog to come. I do call Koa and he is pretty good about coming back, but not 100%, so after the show ...

Chicken

Hi Jenni, Congradulations on the new pup. The first few months are a little tough, but you get what you put into it. I replied to your post about Chaos and did not realize this was one of your first posts. I have only made a couple myself. The forum is great. I had an 11 year old GSD that died last ...

Chaos/Rainbow bridge

Hi Jenni, I am in the US also, and I had not heard about the Rainbow Bridge until my GSD died last summer. It is a poem written about when a dog dies and goes to a place where any of his past on friends and owner are waiting for him, or if he goes first, he is waiting when  they get there. I am...

Chaos

Hi, It is so hard to lose a dog, especially one so young. I am trying to picture Chaos. Can someone remind me what he looked like. If it is the dog I am thinking about, he had so much energy and seemed so happy. Just think of the good like you gave him and how he made you happy. Take care Liz
