Hi from dontpugme

Hey everyone! I'm "dontpugme." The user name is supposed to be a play on the saying "don't bug me." I love pugs and have a 5 year old male pug named Max. Hence the username dontpugme. I live in South East Texas, in a city called Sugar Land. :D (make fun it you like, but it's the ...

Re: play biting

All play biting stops play. When he nips you, yelp. Cross your arms and don't give any attention. Slowly walk away. Wait until he calms down, then praise and play again.

Try this thread:
it has a bunch of homemade toy ideas

I'm not sure how long they would last, for I havent tried them. Fundog had some great ideas, though. My pug loves Kongs, but he has a pretty small tongue so he lasts longer with it.

Well, its really your parents decision, but I had the same experience with my father and choke chains. Since your mother has seen IMOD eps w/ the shock collar and resisted, that doesn't leave you with too many options, considering what Victoria does to show owners the wrongness of the shock collars ...

I agree with Fundog. If you had kept with the standing up with arms crossed, the problem could have faded away. But, the dog is a persistent jumper, it could take months. If you continued with the previous training, maybe add a distraction noise (like ah ah, or bap or something) as you stood.

Make sure to supervise your dog when you give a rawhide. Sharp pieces can tear holes and large pieces can block. I normally don't give my dog rawhide bones.

Try the take it and drop it game. Practice before you use it. Have two balls. Give your dog one of them and say "take it" as he grabs it in his mouth. Then take the other ball and pretent that it is more exciting than what he has. Move it around and shake it...whatever you have to do. When...

I'm thinking about buying one of those interactive dog toys....the ones where you hide the treat and the dog has to use its nose and paws to find it.

I you mean an episode with an english bulldog, I have seen two. There was one shot in the UK. The dog's name was Pugsley. The problems were urinating in the house and humping. I remember this because the owner fed him enormous meals. Here is a link to the episode: http://www.veoh.com/collection/imot...

Am I doing this right?

I've been trying to get my pug to stop yapping at the dogs on TV because he ends up jumping on our cabinets and has made a few scratches. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. When he barks, I make a noise like "ah-ah" or "bap", and bring him into the hallway untill he c...
