Re: Just like cats and dogs...

Body blocking - get him a harness (not a collar), leave the harness & lead on him in the house. When you need to body block - get between dog & cat, grab the lead (so yoy have more control over him), but continue to block with legs. It's a bit like doing a really funny dance  I have a d...

Re: Teeth Cleaning

Did you give her raw bones or cooked bones? We only feed raw bones, as they don't splinter. Was it only the bones or was there meat on them too? The amount of meat on the bone should be be AT LEAST the same ration as a chicken wing. If she swallows things whole - beat the chicken wing (or other raw ...

Re: 4 yr old boston occassionally goes pee and poop in the house

Dogs scent mark when they are insecure (caused by fear, stress, changes, etc etc). It's his way to let the house smell more of him, his way of saying "hey, I live here too". But unfortunatelly it's a vicious circle, bc everytime he scent marks the room/place smell of wee and dogs like to w...

It's best not to use a trainer if you are not sure of their methods - it can do more harm than good when the wrong methods are used  Can you give a run down of Benji's day - what en when does he eat, sleep, exercise (mental & physical), how long is he left for, where is he left, anything y...

Try to walk them daily - it will make a huge difference. Emmy is now fearful of other dogs. Taking her to a dog park / doggy day care (or any other place with many dogs) won't help. You need to work on her by finding her threshold, and rewarding when she is not reacting (even if it means only...

Provide things to chew on during the day, like raw carrots, brocolli, apple, cardboard boxes (no staples), empty toilet rolls, etc. When he mouth or nips - stop doing what you were doing (probably playing with him or touching him?), get up, don't say a word, nothing, and leave them room for 10 secon...

Re: Going to the back seat

Are they crate trained? And if they are, will their crates fit into your car? Then you can have them crated on the backseat, and even put a blanket over the crates if you think they will cope better like that?

Re: Dogs and a new baby?

Hey, congrats :D I'm 35 weeks pregnant, and has done a lot of work with my dogs since I found out I was pregnant. The most important thing I think I did was to socialise them with babies and toddlers (not that easy to find if you don't really know that much people with small children  ). But ye...
