Just to update this post, possibly a lot of this was boredom? Only been out on walks outside a couple of days now but she's not bothered about trouser legs anymore, still has a playbite at fingers but this has also reduced alot. :D Sofas - she's getting a bit bigger now and doesn't have to jump up t...

liver cake

How do you make this? I have tracked down a 2kg bag of liver chunks and would like to use some as treats, I think I read somewhere that you can dry it out in the oven for a few hours but what is livercake that I have read people use on here? Still trying to find treats to entice my girl, raw chicken...

aw look at those ears! My beagle girl is still growing into hers, people keep asking if she is a bassett hound! 9 weeks is still very young, I would take the paper away and take him outside every hour - 3 hours is a while to hold on at that age - immediately after waking up from a nap or eating or p...

Took her to the beach today Beagler, and decided to brave it and let her off-lead. Think I had a minor heart attack but all was well and she came back when she realized we weren't right behind her and the waves were coming to get her! Think I'll save off-lead for the beach though and the huge field ...

Already been given lots of advice now, but when my partner is cooking I will play a game with our dog, keeping her distracted - is there anyone who can do this? Also when I am in the kitchen I do lots of boring things like washing up, ironing - my dog has discovered it's more fun to play with a toy ...

ah finally took her out and it was great! I love the puppy outlook on the world, everything is new and interesting and a potential game/meal/friend. She's still not interested in treats from my hand, but will happily eat them off the floor or out of a kong/boomer ball - will try taking a squeaky toy...

No help I'm afraid but the assistance dog we had over the summer was very very nervy and wary (we were told she was a 'challenge') and it took us 3 months just to get her to not run away when we put her lead or car harness on - so we were determined that Teagan would be happy and confident, took her...

I haven't seen it myself but a woman at training class used to do it with her bassett hound, said she got many funny looks taking a bassett! I'm taking Teagan to basic obedience but more for basic manners than competition! I'm hoping she takes to agility though I'd like to do that, and still thinkin...

Ooh, it's exciting going for a proper walk with new puppy, especially gorgeous Beaglie! Are you letting her off the lead? I did with my little boy and his recall is excellent. She might be too nervous of the big wide world to go too far and stay by your side. Keep the good smelly treats to hand!! W...

Not all beaglies are foodies, much to their owners surprise!! Yep, I am finding it quite surprising! Been closing my hand over the treat, making it a bit more of a fun game to get the treat in the first place, which seems to be working. I feel a bit mean, like I'm 'teasing' her but hey I get her at...

she's a beagle so scenthound. I know someone who used to have bassett hounds and she said about the hiding food in corners thing.

I normally do train before a meal but it's just getting round the 'food has to be hunted and smelt' thing - was a lot easier before she started doing this!

playing with treats

I've never had a dog that did this before so am finding it strange - Teagan has developed a habit. When I am doing clicker training with her, she does as asked, gets the click then I offer her a treat - and she won't take it! She won't take treats from my hand anymore, she insists on it being on the...
