I understand completely what Mattie is saying and I agree! (Now) But most people when being told something, true or not true, from an accusatory stand point will do just the opposite. It's stubborn human nature. I think if you really want people to leave water down for their pups at all times, tell ...

Opinions on Electric Fences

Hey guys! I just wanted to hear what your opinions are on having an electric fence for your dogs. I don't have any fence at my house. My small dog goes out with a lead and my big dog just runs free. The running free thing is actually illegal here (even though most of my neighbors do this) so I have ...

Fundog: yes! Stella is a very quick learner once she's knows what to do. I just needed that little push to let her know what she's supposed to do, which is stay.

Emmabeth: I really like that idea. I will have to introduce wait once she gets this one down.

"She is a dog, she thinks and speaks dog not English, she doesn't understand what "No" means nor why you are clapping your hands. You can't guarentee you will clap them the same everytime either. " -Mattie I don't ever tell her "no" under any circumstance. I know that w...

Just realized I put "sit" in the title when I obviously meant "stay." Oops! Hehe.

Just a couple more questions (sorry! this is the first dog I've had to potty train!). Getting someone to let her out may not be possible as I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't even know the names of the people close to my house. Are puppy pads a bad idea? I've been keeping her in the medium ...

When I clap it's not a loud sound like I'm telling her "No!", just a soft clapping to get her attention so she'll stop peeing. Should I just pick her up while she's peeing instead? I feel like that would scare the heck out of her to just grab her. What do I need to do when she starts peein...

I've been potty training for 3 months...HELP!

So, my 5 month pomeranian, Stella, is still having potty issues. I have had her for 3 months now. I've read just about every potty training method there is. I keep seeing on this site that you should take the dog back to square one when having potty issues, the only problem is we still haven't left ...

These tips helped. I just had to have a LOT of patience. She is a mama's girl and she prefers to be at my feet (or on them) at ALL times, so this one was very difficult, but she's about got it down now. Still some major issues with potty training, but I'll post a new thread for that.

Training Pomeranian to sit??

My precious 5 month old pom, Stella, has been doing beautifully with her clicker training. Just in this past week she has learned sit, roundabout, down, come, and shake, but i cannot get her to stay. I will tell her to sit and then wait a few seconds to click&treat and that works fine, but when ...
