food and toy guarding tactics
Hey guys So I posted recently on our new rescue dog and how well he is doing. Still very early days but one thing we have been managing from day 1 is his food and ball guarding. Generally feeding is not an issue as he is given peace and quiet to eat on his own and he is now raw fed, which is I think...

Re: Managing Dog / Dog interactions
thanks for the advice guys :D I guess I am super protective and aware with Hattie because she's so little, not keen on bouncy bigger dogs and would not be comfortable with the majority of dog interactions...I guess because he's bigger and more confident than her i thought i needed different rules......

Managing Dog / Dog interactions
Hey guys, So I guess we need to post a bit of an update at some point ...but the big news is that we took on a rescue boy about a month ago...and because the world of boys is totally new to me, so just wanted to get some advice. So Mostyn is a young neutered male, possibly around 2 / 3 years old...b...

Re: Jasper's Norfolk holiday
I got mine from our T Touch course, but it is just an ACE elastic bandage , Hattie's is 3 metres with clips (which you can take off). We were advised against velcro fastening ones, as the noise could freak the dog, plus you might be tempted to tie it too tight in getting the velcro to meet. It does ...

Re: Jasper's Norfolk holiday
I've never tried a Thundershirt on Jasper as I've a feeling he wouldn't appreciate it, Judy, have you ever heard of a body wrap...something I've learned from my T Touch course. Hattie finds a thundershirt way too much, but responds well to a body wrap. It's essentially a crepe bandage that you plac...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
It's easy to see the speed and skill he uses in an opportunist smash and grab as evidence that he knows it's wrong I would say this is more about him judging what safe and not safe more than right or wrong...so he probably knows its not a safe option to steal however the pay off is so great it is w...

Re: Suzanne Clothier UK Seminars
AMAZING! :D Felt really inspired when i left ...particularly as I've felt so stuck with Hattie in terms of finding a way to move forward with her noise phobia issues.. She was a great speaker, very engaging and just had soo much knowledge ...I felt so in awe if her. We covered so many topics,...

Re: Over-excited Greeting Behavior
Carin, you sound like a great dog owner :D I've met so many owners with dogs displaying behaviour such as Max's, their dogs racing over for some 'harmless' fun...in the meantime frightening the daylights out of my little on lead dog, despite me body blocking etc etc..and owners just don't get there'...

Re: Suzanne Clothier UK Seminars
Judy that's such a shame...sensible move by the sounds of it tho. I'm definately not taking Hattie, I think it would be too much for her sitting there all day without anything to do...it's bad enough when we go to some kind of obedience or HTM workshop and have to sit just whilst others have their t...
