Rough day for teething puppy
No real point in this post other than to share and look for solidarity. :-) Zelda's teething especially hard today and probably will be for a while now. I can tell because she's putting teeth to whatever she can, especially things she normally does not go for (furniture, blankets, my arm...). She's ...

Re: Must-See Video: "It's Yer Choice" - impulse control games
Great video. I also started impulse control with Zelda from the day I brought her home. It's really one of the best things you can work with a new puppy on (any dog really), and there's so many opportunities to work it-feeding time, play time, anytime!

Re: Hyper Puppy harrassing Kitty's
I have a puppy and 2 cats who are both not too keen to be played with. What I did was worked really hard teaching Zelda the 'leave it' command, which thus far has been the most valuable thing I've taught her (not just for the cats, but with all sorts of disgusting things the puppies want to explore)...

Re: New Dog, Need Help
Another thing he does is nibble/lick his paws. I'm assuming it's from boredom. I check them daily for sores or redness or swelling, and there's been nothing. I may have missed it in the reading, but what are you feeding him? Sometimes chewing on paws or tail can be indicative of a corn or wheat all...

Re: 4 month old puppy urinating on blankets
Puppies can get wise that ringing the bell whenever they want to go outside, but during potty training it's definitely not wise to take a chance.

Lump on puppy's neck
I plan on calling the vet just to be safe, but I thought I'd get some input here. I found a small lump on the back of Zelda's neck. It's under the skin, and I can move it around when I feel it. I've heard this can happen after vaccinations, and she did just finish her vaccination schedule a few days...

Re: New Dog, Need Help
I've seen dewclaw injuries. Not pretty! If I have a puppy, I'm all for having them removed, but in the case of adult dogs it's a bit different. Keep an eye on them. Unless he's constantly catching them and at risk of doing worse harm to himself, don't worry about them. If you find that he's hurting ...

At the very least, call into your vet on Monday. If they want to take a look, take him in. Way to keep on it.

I've also heard benadryll in case of an allergic reaction to something like a bee sting which can tie you over to get to a vet. Has anyone else heard that?

Re: walking on a leash
We walk out the door, down the driveway to the sidewalk. he is doing well at this point. I walk early in the morning, so the sidewalk heat is not an issue. We walk well for about 200 feet and then he starts to get distracted by sticks, leaves, etc. and will just stop walking and lay down in the gra...

There are several similar devices on the market, and I would avoid every single one of them. A "noise" is not going to train a dog.

And looking at it again, the part that runs under that chest is also cutting into her.Zeldacorgi wrote:Actually, it looks to me like you need to adjust it to a bigger size or go bigger. The top is cutting into her back.

Re: Due To Inconsitance Issue
The simple answer is...just start being consistent. I'm not really sure what you're question is.
