Re: Timely subjects in Bark
I am a regular subscriber to Bark Magazine and this month really touched some recent things at home. 2 weeks ago my wife had made blueberry pancakes for the week. She left a plate to cool on top of the microwave on the counter. She stepped into the shower and when she came back out only 9 of the 20...

Re: Upping the "Find it" Game
Is she using scent to find the toy or noise (hearing you in the rooms)? Also does she know the toy you are hiding before you hide it? Well, it turns out it's not a completely blind retrieve. Yet. I've been hearing her break her stay and trying to see from upstairs where I'm hiding it. When she does...

Re: Help, 5 year old newfounland dog runs after white small dogs
Is she on a leash when this happens? Or in a public place like a dog park or dog day care? If you can provide more details about what leads to this situation, we can help you better. :) First off, I'd not expose her to situation where this can happen again. If she cannot be trusted to not mouth othe...

Upping the "Find it" Game
Maggie can nearly do a blind retrieve now with the "find it" game. She can be sit-staying upstairs (or vice versa) while I'm downstairs (or vice versa) putting her toy in different rooms each time in a low distracting environment. She can find the right toy to find over other toys lying ab...

Re: sharing
Please, please manage this situation. I have a eerily similar situation with my two dogs. Along with the advice recommended here, make sure that both dogs are walked, given plenty of mental exercise, one-on-one attention and if things escalate, separate them and give them space to relax.

Re: Things are getting worse, not better
I do live with my parents and they usually take care of both dogs when I'm away, but they don't always follow the training philosophy as I do. If someone else beside me, could take over some aspect of taking care of the dogs when I'm here--walking Maggie once a day--that would help a lot, but I don'...

Yes, Nettle, I'm overwhelmed and wondering if it's best for Betsy to be rehomed. I'm still unemployed and it's going to take me many years to acquire enough money for the both of us. How do you know what's the right decision?

Things are getting worse, not better
Lately, things with Maggie are getting worse, not better. She's bullying/guarding (meaning running up, growling, teeth bared, using her body to push her away or simply initiate a staring contest) Betsy from everything. If Betsy touches the steps, Maggie goes after her. If Betsy goes near me, Maggie ...
