Re: Sitting when meeting people

Re: Sitting when meeting people
The size of the dog probably makes a difference - Jasper pulling hard is presumably much more noticeable than Bax pulling hard, which in a way makes it easier - and essential - to deal with. my thoughts exactly. i think i put up with alot of behavior from bax that wouldnt work so well with a 100lb ...

Re: Sitting when meeting people
on closer inspection of bax's loose leash habits ive discovered why this may be a bit harder than anticipated. he doesnt quite PULL (well yes he does but thats another story) but hes VERY aware of exactly where the end of the lease is. and he toes that line. for example on the duration of our half m...

Re: Sitting when meeting people
@jacksdad do you have any commentary on helpful ways i can teach bax to "ask" without him pulling? I feel like its a really fine line for "going in that direction" and "PULLING in that direction"

Manners while meeting
I know I'm forum spamming. this is my last one i swear! Bax has ZERO doggy manners when greeting people. i DO screen WHO he meets so he only says hi to people how consent to say hi to him but he runs up to them and puts his paws up on them and SMOOSHES his neck into their hands. i think its adorable...

Sitting when meeting people
So related to impulse control i do have a question about greeting people. THERE WAS A TIME in the misty days of olde when bax was required to sit politely before anyone pet him. this was when he got his CGC. I deliberately moved away from that because he was still fearful of being pet and i wanted h...

Re: What are you and your dogs up to today? Part 2
Bax is madly in love with the heat. hes doing his yearly "flop down and roll i nthe grass and then lie their with a stupid blissful grin" he did it THREE TIMES on our half mile walk and he refused to be budged from his spot of basking until i litterally dragged him to his feet. poor dog is...

Re: Lab puppy guards kibble from beagle
also idk if anyone has stated this but i was always taught to bless the growl. growl is talking. growl is saying this is not cool. much preferable to snapping or biting to say what he wants.

ugh ive seen videos of slaughterhouses. pigs, some of the smartest animals we have, routinely get boiled alive.
